Media Player (PMP) reference
design kit based on Freescale’s
i.MX21 multimedia applications
processor and the Microsoft®
Windows® CE 5.0 operating
system. This robust hardware
and software development kit
is designed to be compliant
with Microsoft’s Portable Media
Center (PMC) standard while
allowing user customization
through broad I/O support.
Portable media players are
handheld devices that play
recorded TV, movies, home
videos, music and photos.
The Freescale i.MX21 PMP
reference platform eliminates
months of design time and
provides a robust hardware and
software environment to develop
a form factor PMP. The i.MX21
multimedia applications
processor, based on an
ARM926EJ-S™ processor core,
is at the heart of the design,
driving rich video and high-fidelity
audio performance in a
