Abstract:
The optical access system, known as FTTx, is believed to be one of the key technologies to
conquer the challenges of the coming communication era, to fulfill its versatile needs and to
enable it to reach its full potential. Realistic FTTx deployment depends on meeting important
technical and economic conditions to ensure its successful launch and to achieve business goals.
This presentation will show strategies of Freescale Semiconductor to penetrate into the FTTx
market from the viewpoint of a semiconductor vendor. The fundamental requirements that are
believed to be the key factors include inter-operability certification and the ability to provide
economical solutions that meet the market need.
