The Tsongol datsan in historical literature Basarov S.C. ([email protected]) Buryat State University The article is devoted to the history of the first permanent Buddhist datsan in Russia – the Tsongol datsan. The author examines the role of this datsan in spreading Buddhism on the territory of present-day Buryatia. He also makes an attempt to restore the original look of the datsan, which was destroyed during anti-religious campaign at the beginning of the 20th century. S. Basarov also introduces new archive data and information unknown before to the reader.
