Student Name Home Phone: Mobile Phone: Street Address, Winnipeg, MB Canada, Postal Code [email protected] Date: Oct 25, 2009 Tipping Canoe RE: Web Developer I am pleased to apply for a Co-op position starting January 2010 as a Web Developer with Tipping Canoe. I would like to be one of your coding ninjas! My programming experience in university has been heavily focused on Java and C/C++, while my volunteer and personal projects involved many different web technologies. These web technologies included: AJAX, Javascript, PHP, MySQL databases and XHTML. Recently, I developed a website for the University of Manitoba Society of Automotive Engineers (umsae.com), where I used HTML, CSS and some PHP to develop templates for the website. In addition, when StudioKW.com needed an application form for one of the photo shoots, I was able to quickly create one using PHP and Javascript. My good academic record is evidence to my fast learning ability and a strong will to learn new things. Most of the technologies I know today, I taught myself through books and the internet. Learning new technologies, in particular web related technologies, is something I have been excited about since I was 12, when I was first interested in web development. As far as motivation goes, I often find myself working long hours until the problem is solved or the task is complete. After all, there is no greater or more rewarding feeling than successfully solving a difficult problem. All of my skills and experience, as well as my interest in the field and ability to learn quickly will be a great asset to Tipping Canoe’s ninja team. I am available for a four month work term, starting in January 2010. I look forward to hearing from you in the future. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Student Name
