The successful candidate will actively participate in collaboration with the PI of the project: - in different work-packages of the project, such as: • the use of omics tools to characterize the different expression levels of the genome; • identification of regulatory gene network and validation of results; • -collection, preparation and analysis of the results; • - on the preparation of articles for peer-rewired high impact peer-reviewed journals and the on-the presentation of the results in seminars and other scientific meetings. Research area: PurpleWalls will address new and relevant insight genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling phenotype determination, and phenotypic adaptation to growing conditions in Salix purpurea as model for other Salicaceae and perennial species used for bioenergy. PurpleWalls will use an Integrative Biology approach to reveal new key genes and regulatory gene networks that modulate xylogenesis and the secondary cell walls biosynthesis. Qualifications: The successful candidate should hold the PhD degree in Molecular Biology or Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other discipline of Life Science. The Candidate should have competences in large scale data-management and bioinformatics complemented with knowledge plant molecular biology, demonstrated by publications. Selected person should be able to plan and use general tools of plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, for next generation sequencing analysis and develop scripts or software applications to support data management, data extraction and data analysis. Selected person will be responsible for generated primary data and to analysed them, and will contribute to the interpretation of results, planning experiments and writing of research papers. Will be also charged to help the coordinator of the project on supervision of the PhD student work. Knowledge of English will be required. Availability for travel and to work for short periods in other Polish and non-Polish laboratories. 1 Duties: Conducting and discussing high-profile academic research as a member of the Integrative Plant Biology Team. Public presentation of the research on scientific and professional conferences, and writing and publish in high impact journals. Participate t in international and domestic cooperation with academic and industrial partners. Elaboration of periodic reports based on the results obtained during the project. Participation on the activities of Integrative Plant Biology (eg. participation in seminars and workshops, etc.) and other activities and initiatives of Institute of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, in agreement with the rules of the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS. Benefits: Employment at the IPG PAS will be in the form of a temporary job contract, of 36 months. Term of an employment contract will be agreed with the successful candidate. Our scientific activity encompasses wide array of scientific disciplines like cytogenetics, metabolomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. The salary is the average salary for a researcher at the institute. The new research unit Cell Walls by Design created in the frame of SONATA BIS project will be integrated the Department of Integrative Plant Biology at the Institute of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
