New from Japan
...... a hangover cure that really works.
Ê Science-based blend of the amino acid L-cysteine and key vitamins.
Ê Developed by SSP Co., Ltd. for Japan, which has a large number of
people who are very susceptible to hangovers.
Ê Effective and safe: used in Japan since 1968.

Here's How:
The agonizing symptoms of a hangover are caused by a variety of factors, but the main one is
the toxicity of a chemical called acetaldehyde, which is produced by the degradation of alcohol
in the liver. The body has a straightforward biochemical process for the elimination of alcohol
from your body. In the first step, an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase converts alcohol to
acetaldehyde. In the second step, an enzyme called acetaldehyde dehydrogenase converts
acetaldehyde to acetate, which is simply ionized acetic acid (vinegar).

When too much alcohol is consumed, the liver is overwhelmed, and step two cannot be carried
out fast enough to prevent acetaldehyde from building up inside the body.

Do's and Don'ts
What Hythiol-C Will Do
• Eliminates or greatly reduces all of the miserable symptoms of a hangover.
• Prevents a wasted day that you would normally spend recovering.
• Allows you to go to work, or be productive at home the day after.
What Hythiol-C Will NOT Do
• It will not make you sober.
• It will not prevent intoxication from excess drinking.
• It will not let you get away with drinking more than usual.
• It will not eliminate your need for adequate sleep after drinking.
• It will not protect you from criminal charges if you drive while impaired.
How You Can Make Hythiol-C Even More Effective
• To counteract dehydration, drink plenty of water before going to bed and after waking up.
• To replace sugar and electrolytes, take 'sports drinks' (e.g. Gatorade).
• Do not consume alcohol on the morning after, including home remedies for hangover that
contain alcohol.
• Get plenty of sleep.
• Do not drink large amounts of coffee.
Be Careful. Alcohol Has Risks.
• Pay attention to "do not take with alcohol" warnings on medications.
• Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. It can be very dangerous to consume
alcoholic beverages while taking medications which are also central nervous system
depressants, such as sedatives, antihistamines, narcotic pain relievers, anti-anxiety drugs,
antidepressants, sleeping aids, etc.
• Many pharmaceutical drugs are converted to other substances by the liver, and this normal
action of the liver reduces the amount of drug in the blood stream. When the liver is
occupied with the detoxification of excess alcohol in the body, drug levels in the blood can
become too high.
• Drinking while taking Tylenol or other drugs containing acetaminophen can cause liver
damage. Acetaminophen is present in many OTC cough and cold products and sleep aids,
and in widely-used prescription drugs for pain.
• Do not drink alcohol if you are pregnant or nursing.
• Too much alcohol can be fatal.

It is the high acetaldehyde levels that are responsible for most of the horrible
symptoms of a hangover. A large part of the Japanese population develop hangovers very
easily because of a genetic deficiency which gives them relatively low levels of acetaldehyde
dehydrogenase.
There are other factors which also contribute to the misery. Alcohol acts as a diuretic, and loss
of water through urination causes dehydration and loss of electrolytes (minerals). Heavy
drinking causes a loss of glucose stored as glycogen in the liver, and this contributes to the
feeling of tiredness. Hangovers seem to be made worse by the type and amount of
"congeners" present in the alcohol consumed. Congeners are products of fermentation that
contribute to the characteristic taste and color of a liquor. Dark colored drinks such as rum and
whiskey have more congeners than light colored drinks such as vodka, gin and white wine.
Active Ingredients of Hythiol-C
L-Cysteine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body and is the key to the
effectiveness of Hythiol-C. L-cysteine accelerates the removal of acetaldehyde in two important
ways:
1. It stimulates the action of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase to convert
acetaldehyde to acetate.
2. It reacts directly with acetaldehyde to detoxify and remove it.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which neutralizes free radicals that cause damage to DNA
and other vital biochemicals, and are believed responsible for aging and disease processes.
Free radicals are unwanted by-products of enzyme reactions in the liver.
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5, supplied as calcium pantothenate) is an essential vitamin for
the biosynthesis of coenzyme A, which plays a major role in the body's metabolic cycles.
Recommended Dose:
For adults 19 years and older, take two tablets at a time with water
up to 3 times per day, giving a total of 6 tablets per day. After drinking,
take Hythiol-C before going to bed, and again after waking up the next day.
Active Ingredients in one adult daily dose (6 tablets):
L-Cysteine ............................................... 240 mg
Vitamin C ................................................ 300 mg
Calcium pantothenate (Vitamin B5) ............ 34 mg
Manufacturer:
Hythiol-C is made in Japan by SSP Co., Ltd. SSP is a well established manufacturer
and marketer of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products.
Distributor:
In North America, Hythiol-C is distributed by Ashbury Biologicals, Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
