Antizol (fomepizole) – Drug Shortage
•
The drug shortage of American Regent/Luitpold’s, Mylan’s, and Navinta’s generic Antizol
(fomepizole) injection is ongoing. Fomepizole injection has been unavailable for at least 90 days due
to shortage of active ingredient, increased product demand, or requirements related to complying
with good manufacturing practices.
— American Regent/Luitpold’s generic fomepizole is tentatively expected to be available in
October or November of 2015.
— Navinta’s generic fomepizole contains a Sandoz label.
— Jazz Pharmaceuticals, the distributor of brand Antizol, is no longer marketing this product.

Antizol is indicated as an antidote for ethylene glycol (such as antifreeze) or methanol poisoning, or
for use in suspected ethylene glycol or methanol ingestion, either alone or in combination with
hemodialysis.
