MENTAL DISORDERS
This section is intended primarily for the classification of patients
seen at mental hospitals, psychiatric clinics, mental deficiency institutions
and similar facilities, where the main interest is in the mental state of the
patient. It therefore includes all forms of mental disorder, even though
associated with or secondary to physical conditions, as in categories
292-294, 309, 310-315.
For primary mortality classification and for morbidity classification
where the main interest is not in the mental state of the patient, the
categories mentioned above should not be used but assignment made to
the associated or underlying physical condition.
