The Leadership Dialogue
“New times for Latin America”
The Council of Latin America Entrepreneurs – CEAL – a 27 years experiented association
with more than 600 business leaders of Latin America, with the special Partnership of the
Columbia World Leaders Forum, and the support of the Council of Americas and Forum
das Americas has been suggested by its Board Members to concept and organize a high
level leadership dialogue, one day after the UN opening Assembly Session (20.9), on
September 21th, Wednesday, with the Presidents of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru
and Paraguay to present the new direction and policies in the Latin America Region.
The general elections and new Administrations in place are strongly commited to
scale new ways for more market access, to enhance sustainable economical policies,
to develop new trade and economic agreements to strength integration, more private
entrepeneuership and less government intervention, maintaining the public policies of
social inclusion and more investments in education and health.
Meanwhile disintegration movements are happening in Europe, Far East and other areas in the
world, Latin America is constructing new ways for their integration through the partnerships
in the region with a strong participation of the private sector.
Latin America continues to be a strong continent attracting FDIs; the best average of
FDI/GDP continues to be in Latin America. With the new direction of the policies of the
driving countries in the region, this tendency will be strength.
In a long term view, many megatrends forsee an active role of Latin America in the global
scenario, mainly in the areas of food and water supply and global security, energy supply with
a high percentage of sustainable renewable resources, green economy, sustainability of the
society and economy, and a strong contribution for a peaceful world.
The political changes, reforms, and visions for the near future are the focus of this
dialogue, to be constructed, by the highest representatives of some of the most important
nations of the continent, the active participation of entrepreneurs and the public opinion,
in a very stimulating environment of the Columbia University in New York.
The great opportunity to organize this event in the day after the Opening Session of
the UN Assembly 2016 will generate a strong signal worldwide of the changes in the
Latin American Region.
