General Conditions

In assembled state the Ex connector type 611-201-1104, certificate number
nm 13.0070 X, as equipment of equipment group II, are designed for the application in:
Explosive Gas Atmospheres of Zone 2
They comply with category 3G and ignition protection type Ex nA IIC T5 Gc,
"non-sparking devices", equipment protection level (EPL) Gc.
Explosive Dust Atmospheres of Zone 22 in combination with a suited and
properly connected Ex-terminal.
They comply with category 3D and ignition protection type Ex tc IIIC T95 °C Dc
IP65, "protection by enclosure", equipment protection level (EPL) Dc.

Further to the valid generally accepted rules of technology these operating instructions
refer to special conditions (symbol „X“) and further application conditions that must
be observed in any case. These operating instructions cannot take all possible
conditions and applications into account and do not replace valid regulations.

We are not liable for any damage caused by non-observation of this information as well
as in case of improper intervention regarding this device. Furthermore, warranty for
the devices and accessories will become void. Our general terms and conditions apply.
Installation

At installation and maintenance it is essential to keep to the concerning Ex standards,
especially EN 60079-14, and to observe relevant national regulations.

Symbol „X“: Installation only in areas with low degree of mechanical danger (according
to EN 60079-0, 26.4).

Symbol „X“: The place of assembly of the connector must be protected against light.

After removing the packing, make sure that dirt cannot penetrate into the system. The
connections of the cables must be free from dirt and corrosion.
Take suitable measures to exclude unintentional activation or inadmissible
impairment.


Make sure that the sealing do not get damaged during the assembly.

The cable gland is suited for cable diameters of 4 mm to 8 mm. For the areas 4-6 mm or
6-8 mm one grommet is attached for each, only one grommet may be used at the same
time.

Please observe the respective requirements and ambient conditions (see EN 6007914) when laying connecting cables.

In order to avoid short circuits and interruptions the bending radius of the connecting
cable must be adapted to the used wiring.

Directly before the connector a strain relief must be provided in order to ensure that
strain and torsion are not transmitted to the connector.

For the selection of cables and wirings a temperature range higher than the ambient
temperature must be taken into consideration as due to the connected terminal a
higher temperature inside the connector can occur.

The rated cross section of the electrical conductors may be up to 1.5 mm².

Multi-wired respectively fine-wired conductors may be used if wire ends or singlewired conductors are applied. The wire ends must be properly mounted into the screw
joint and may not be damaged. Only one conductor respectively one wire end may be
used for one clamp. The use of multi-wired respectively fine-wired conductors with tinplated
wires
is
not
permitted.
Mounting is admissible in any position, the terminal block can be mounted inside the
connector housing when offset in steps of 90°. No further settings are possible.


The surface temperature on the part of the terminal at the connector interface may not
exceed 90°C.

Symbol „X“: The degree of protection IP65 is guaranteed with a properly assembled
terminal. Please consider the provided grommet and the required torque of the
fastening screw.

Before initial operation of the device make sure that the overall equipment or unit
respectively meets the requirements of the applicable directives of the European Union
(e.g. the EMC directive).

Operation

Symbol „X“: The disassembly of the Ex-connector from the terminal may only be
carried out when disconnected from power supply!

The maximum surface temperature of the terminal can be very high. Caution! Risk of
injury!

Before initial operation of the device make sure that all screwings have been carried
out properly.

Symbol „X“: The Ex connectors type 611-201-1104 are suited for an ambient
temperature range from -20 °C up to +90 °C.

The outside surfaces of the device should be free of contact with liquids or corrosives.

Do not strain the system by bending or torsion .

Prevent the connecting cables from being buckled or damaged in order to avoid short
circuits and interruptions.

Properly operated, the device is maintenance-free.
Troubleshooting

Check the cable connection and the operating voltage.

Check the device for external damages.

Should the problem persist or external damages be visible, disconnect the device from
power supply. Make sure that no voltage is applied to the device then.

Defective units must not be repaired.

Please order spare parts completely by indicating the identification number provided
on the units (imprint / type plate).
