HAVE YOU DONE THE FOLLOWING?
Checked your sparkplug? A worn/fouled sparkplug will cause starting and
operational issues with the Copperhead’s multi-spark ignition.
Checked your battery voltage? The Copperhead requires at least 11 Volts to fire the
sparkplug, and has a higher current draw than stock. Battery voltage when the engine is
running should be 12-15 Volts. If it is below/above that, it indicates a bad battery or
faulty voltage regulator.
King Quad 700/750 and Arctic Cat 700 ECU TPS alignment? A misaligned TPS
(Throttle Position Sensor) will cause starting and operational issues. Adjust per the
Copperhead installation instructions.
King Quad 700/750 and Arctic Cat 700 MAP sensor hose? The MAP sensor
hose is a small black vacuum line that leaves the front of the throttle body, and connects
to the small black MAP sensor mounted to the bottom of the air box. If the hose is
kinked or crimped, it will cause hard starting and poor operation.
Calibrated the ECU? This is a CRITICAL step for Rhino, Grizzly and Brute Force
ECU’s to ensure they start and operate correctly. Failure to calibrate the ECU will result
in hard starting, stalling and poor performance.
NOTE: Mount the unit in such a way that the toggle boot for the map switch is not
rubbing. If the toggle boot gets damaged, water can enter the ECU causing damage.
