HVAC/R Fall Schedule A series of classes for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Refrigeration Principles - HART1007 Course Dates and Times August 29 - December 16, 2016 Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 11:20 am, OR August 31 - December 15, 2016 Wednesday & Thursday, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm 96 hrs/9.6 CEU’s - $436.00 Basic Electricity For HVAC - HART1001 Course Dates and Times August 29 - December 16, 2016 Monday & Tuesday, 3:20 pm - 5:55 pm 96 hrs/9.6 CEU’s - $436.00 Air Cond. Control Principles - HART1003 Course Dates and Times August 29 - December 16, 2016 Monday - Friday, 1:50 pm - 3:15 pm 96 hrs/9.6 CEU’s - $436.00 Gas & Electric Heating - HART1045 The completion of the series of electrical and mechanical classes will help prepare a person to take the exams for the Texas State Air Conditioning and Refrigeration licenses. These classes will also prepare the person to work as a technician in the HVAC/R trade including domestic and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration. Refrigeration Principles includes an introduction to the refrigeration cycle along with the heat transfer theory and temperature/pressure relationships. Identifying refrigeration componets, refrigerant handling, use of the common tools and test equipment and safety procedures will be studied. Basic Electricity for HVAC includes electrical safety, what an electrical circuit is, how to use meters to trouble shoot circuits, identifying electrical components and symbols in air conditioning systems, and reading schematic diagrams. It also includes knowledge of alternating current, power distribution and voltage systems. Basic electric motors and the installation of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systmes will be studied. Air Conditioning Control Priniciples includes the study of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, sales, engineering, load sizing, air quality management, identifying control devices, and controly systems, as well as professionalism in the HVAC work environment. Outcomes include communication, skills competencies, critical thinking, and professional growth. *Pre-requisites: Refrigeration Principles & Basic Electricity/HVAC Gas & Electric Heating includes the study of the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, sales, engineering, load sizing, air quality management for gas furnaces and electric heating systems, including component operations, servicing gas furnaces and electric heating systems, and performing safety inspections of gas & electric heating systems. *Pre-requisites: Refrigeration Principles & Basic Electricity/HVAC Course Dates and Times August 29 - December 13, 2016 Monday & Tuesday, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm 96 hrs/9.6 CEU’s - $436.00 Supplies • Textbook • Leather Gloves • Safety Glasses Instructor Roger Nielsen Location West Texas Trng Center - Building 2 - Room E101 Tuition/Fees •Student is responsible for purchase of supplies •See individual course for prices Registration You may register in person by coming to the West Texas Training Center, Room 101, or by phone calling 325-481-8322. NOTE: If a course requires pre-requisites, registration can only be done in person. Refund Policy - Prior to the first scheduled class meeting- 100%. If class is canceled by the college - 100%. For a course meeting fewer than three times no refunds except prior to first scheduled class meeting. For a course meeting three or more times, after the first class meeting and prior to the second - 70%. None thereafter. Class Cancellation - The Continuing Education/Workforce Training Department reserves the right to cancel any course in which there is not sufficient enrollment. Certificate of Completion - Upon completion of approved courses, a Certificate of Completion with the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) total will be given to students who successfully complete a course. A CEU is equal to ten hours of classroom attendance. Satisfactory completion will be determined by attendance and performance as assessed by the instructor. Certificates of Completion will be awarded to students who successfully complete any workforce training-community education course. Transcripts - Transcripts serve as official validation of successful completion of WT/CE courses.
