V-Line® Gen2 V2355 Installation Guide
CHOOSING AN INSTALLATION SITE
WET LOCATION / OUTDOOR USE
When selecting a site for product installation, as with any LED Lighting Product, be sure to keep in mind that at
some point the Products may need to be cleaned, repaired, or replaced. Planning ahead for simple product access
will assist in reducing headaches down the road.
Use Only Wet Location Fixtures For Exterior Applications. Any V-Line® Gen2 Fixture Marked “ I ” Is
Indoor Only And Is Not To Be Used For Exterior Applications.
TEMPERATURE CONSIDERATIONS
V2355A-26CAB
Product is rated for an Operating Temperature range of -20 to 40°C with a rated maximum Case Temperature
of 50°C. Case Temperature is measured at a test point located in the center of the back side of the Product’s
extrusion housing.
V2355A-26CAB I
Outdoor Installation Considerations:
• Product is rated for exterior applications; however it is not rated for submersible applications and should
not be mounted in conditions where there is, or is a possibility of, standing water.
Installations that may lead to Case Temperatures above 50°C include:
• Installing the Product in an area above 40°C ambient temperature.
• Operating the Product during daylight hours when installed in direct sunlight in hot climates.
• Product should not be installed in extreme locations including, but not limited to, those outside of its
temperature/humidity ratings and/or applications where Product is subject to water runoff or downspouts. • When installing in wet or damp locations, it is good practice to seal all fixtures and junction boxes with
electronics-grade RTV silicone sealant to ensure that moisture cannot enter or accumulate in wiring
compartments, cables, or other electrical parts.
• Installing the Product in a sealed compartment.
• Installing the Product between panes of glass or directly behind a glass window.
• Installing the Product in a tight and/or insulated space.
Product should not be installed in applications that exhibit a greater-than-average ambient temperature
variation over a short period of time. Examples include those instances where the Product is rapidly heated or
cooled at a rate that occurs faster than that typically found in nature. Should you have any concerns about your
installation, contact us.
Product is equipped with i2Systems Active Thermal Management (ATM). In an overheat condition, ATM reduces
Product power in order to reduce Case Temperature. However, ATM should not be relied upon as a means of
normal operation.
Please be sure the Product is operated at or below these specified Operating and Case Temperature levels.
Failure to do so will void the warranty.
CONNECTION CONSIDERATIONS
• When installing, ensure all connector plugs are fully seated. Failure to do so may result in intermittent
connection, corrosion, and/or leaking into the main housing.
• Any Product connector that is not used is to be capped with End Plug, model: 530-01757. The End Plug is
commonly used at the end of each Product Run and/or on every Product used Standalone (not plugged into
another Product). CAUTION: Failure to install the End Plug may result in corrosion and failure of the product.
Please be sure your product installation complies with the above guidelines. Failure to do so will void the warranty.

V-Line® Gen2 V2355 Installation Guide
V-Line® Gen2 V2355 Installation Guide
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
LIMITED WARRANTY
Basic Installation
1.1 Limited Warranty. Products are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship and to conform substantially to Seller’s then-current (as of the date of
Product shipment) user documentation and specifications for a period of three (3) years from the date of invoice (the “Warranty Period”), provided the Products are used under
those operating conditions (including electrical values and environmental conditions) described in Seller’s then-current user documentation and specifications for
such Products. Seller shall not be liable under the foregoing warranty if Buyer fails to provide Seller with notice of the alleged defect during the Warranty Period.
Q: Can I connect the Gen2 directly to line voltage?
A: No. Connecting the Gen2 directly to line voltage or any voltage higher than 30V DC will damage the fixture and void
the warranty. Use an i2Systems Power Box to convert line voltage to low voltage.
Q:
A:
I see the Gen2 is rated from 20-30V DC. Will the intensity vary over the voltage range?
No. The light output will remain constant over the full range. Based on the Gen2’s constant power design, as the voltage
drops, the current will increase proportionally (conversely, it will go down as the voltage rises), adding additional current
load in the wiring and on the Power Box.
Q: Can I load the Power Box to the full wattage specified (i.e. 75W or 350W)?
A: Yes. The power supplies installed in i2Systems Power Boxes are derated (i.e. a 75W Power Box uses a 100W Power Supply).
Refer to the Power Box Datasheet for additional details.
Q:
A:
Can I use a 3rd party low voltage power supply?
While it is possible to use a 3rd party 24V DC power source, we highly discourage this and doing so may void the Gen2's
warranty. Not all power supplies exhibit the same characteristics and there is the possibility of the power supply being
incompatible or causing damage to the Gen2 fixture. Dimming-Related
Q:
A:
For installations without dimming, what do I do with the orange and violet wires on the Gen2?
The orange and violet wires on the Gen2 are for isolated dimming control. These wires are optically isolated to the Gen2
power and may be cut and capped using best industry practices. Alternatively, tie all orange wires to orange wires and violet
wires to violet wires to synchronize light turn-on when power is applied. Refer to the diagram on page 11.
Q: Is the LightLink LL-205 limited to dimming 5 Power Boxes?
A: No. The LightLink LL-205 is capable of dimming more than 5 Power Boxes. Please refer to the LL-205 Installation Guide for
additional details.
Q: When using the LightLink LL-205 Dimming Module, do I need a 3rd Party Dimmer?
A: No. The LL-205 is often used as a standalone dimmer. This feature is useful for simple installations and/or troubleshooting
dimming installations where the LightLink is able to override the incoming dimming signal to help pinpoint the problem.
Q: Can I mix and match i2Systems Product series on the same LightLink dimmer?
A: Yes. However, contact us prior to doing so, as results may vary, depending on the Product.
1.2 Remedies. In the event a Product does not comply with the foregoing express warranty, Buyer may notify Seller within the Warranty Period and if so notified Seller will,
at Seller’s option: (a) provide a replacement for such Product or defective component or part thereof that has caused the warranty claim (such Product or defective component
or part thereof that has caused the warranty claim, the “Warranty Item”); or (b) refund to Seller the lesser of (1) the amount Seller paid for the Warranty Item, and (2) Seller’s
cost to replace the Warranty Item, in each case as determined by Seller in its sole and absolute discretion following receipt and inspection by Seller of the Warranty Item. For
the avoidance of doubt, “provided a replacement for such Product or defective component or part thereof” expressly does not include any removal or reinstallation costs or
expenses, including without limitation labor costs or expenses. All exchanged Warranty Items shall become the property of Seller. Seller may use either new or remanufactured,
reconditioned or refurbished components or parts (if in like-new condition), or functionally equivalent components or parts, in the furnishing of replacement(s) for any
Warranty Item. Seller’s warranty flows only to Buyer of the products. If the Seller chooses to replace the Product and is not able to do so because it has been discontinued
or is not available, the Seller may replace it with a comparable product.
1.3 Limitations. The foregoing warranty is limited, and does not extend to, and Seller shall incur no liability for: (a) lumen maintenance of the Products; (b) color shift of light
output of the Products; (c) degradation or discoloration of the Product housing(s); (d) mechanical or cosmetic deterioration of the Products associated with normal wear and
tear. For clarity and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the foregoing warranty does not apply if a Product’s light module continuously generates light at any
intensity, regardless of whether such intensity has decreased since the date of first use of such Product [(viz., warranty coverage only applies in the event that such light module
generates no light or generates light intermittently)]. This limited warranty only applies when the product has been properly wired and installed and operated within the
electrical values, operating range and environmental conditions provided in the Specifications. This warranty does not apply to damage or failure to perform arising as a result
of any Acts of God or from any abuse, misuse, abnormal use or use in violation of any applicable standard, code, or instructions for use including those contained in the latest
National Electrical Code, the Standards for Safety of Underwriters Laboratory, Inc., the Standards for the American National Standards Institute or, in Canada, the Canadian
Standards Association. This Warranty shall become void in the event any repairs or alternations not duly authorized by the Seller in writing are made to the Product by
any person.
Buyer shall convey with each Product distributed to end users this LIMITED WARRANTY, and if Seller determines that the appropriate remedy for a defective product is
refund of Buyer’s purchase price, Buyer shall refund to the end user (or arrange for the refund to the end user of) the full purchase price paid by the end user for such
defective Product.
With respect to Products sold to the Buyer by Seller but not bearing the Seller’s name or sub-brand name, SELLER MAKES NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, but will make available to the Buyer upon request but
only to the extent permitted by law and relevant contracts, the warranties of the manufacturer of the relevant product.
1.4 Exclusions; Buyer Indemnification. The foregoing warranty shall be void with respect to defective conditions or non-conformities of the Products resulting from:
(a) modifications of Products not authorized by Seller; (b) misuse, neglect, accident or abuse, improper wiring, repairing, splicing, alteration, installation, storage or
maintenance; (c) use in a manner not in accordance with Seller’s published operating specifications or instructions for the applicable Products; (d) Product defects caused by
Buyer’s combination of the Products with equipment provided or manufactured by third party vendors (unless Seller is advised, in writing, of such proposed combination and
Seller thereafter consents in writing to such combination); (e) breach by Buyer or its employees, partners to whom Buyer sold Product, contractors, representatives, agents or
affiliates, (collectively, “Buyer Parties”) of any obligation herein; or (f) negligent use, application, installation or implementation of Product by any of the Buyer Parties. Buyer
shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Seller and its officers, directors, agents, employees, affiliates, representatives, successors, and assigns from and against all losses,
liabilities, costs, and expenses (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees) arising out of out of or in connection with claims by third parties for any loss, damage, or injury
(including death) caused by or alleged to be caused by the circumstances described in this Section 5.4. Buyer shall not join, settle or otherwise attempt to affect or dispose
of any such claim without Seller’s written consent.
1.5 DISCLAIMER. THE EXPRESS WARRANTIES IN THIS SECTION ARE THE ONLY WARRANTIES GRANTED BY SELLER AND THE REMEDIES IN THIS SECTION 5 ARE THE SOLE
AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES FOR BREACH OF SUCH WARRANTIES. EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION 1, SELLER MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS,
IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, AND SELLER EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL SUCH OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF QUALITY,
CONDITION, TITLE, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. No agent, employee, or representative of Seller has any authority
to bind Seller to any affirmation, representation or warranty concerning goods sold by Seller and unless an affirmation, representation or warranty is specifically included herein
or in Seller’s sales acknowledgement, it does not form a part of the basis of any bargain between Seller and Buyer and shall not be enforceable by Buyer.
