Tea Selection
Darjeeling
Darjeeling tea from the Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India, The smallest shoots, still covered in
dew, are picked by hand at first light, it yields a thin bodied light coloured infusion with a beautiful floral
aroma
Superior Oolong
First produced in the Fujian province of China, some 400 years ago, oolong tea now comes primarily
from Taiwan and southern China. Its long, dark leaves, redolent of dragons' tails, are what give
oolong tea its Chinese name: ‘Wu Long', meaning ‘black dragon'. Oolong tea owes its distinctiveness to
the method by which it is produced. As a semi-fermented tea, oolong tea is made using partially-oxidised
leaves. As the degree of fermentation can vary greatly, so, too, can the character of the resulting tea
Earl Grey
This classic blend of quality leaf Indian and China teas is flavoured with bergamot. Originally famous as
a luxurious afternoon tea named after an English Prime Minister in the 1830s, it would be drunk lightly
brewed usually without milk in all the best houses.
Classic English Breakfast
A combination of teas from thousands of miles apart to create this strongly aromatic comforting taste.
Assam for strength, Ceylon for depth and Kenyan for colour.
Assam
In 1973, encouraged by the exceptional quality from the ‘Manjushree’ plantation, the owners decided
to found a further garden, the ‘Mangalam’estate. The selected Assanica hybrids are planted very closely
and produce thehighest quality golden tips.
Tarry Lapsang Souchong
When plucking this tea, not the youngest leaves nor the bud are taken, but the ‘Souchong’ leaf; larger
leaves from the lower parts of the bushes, After fermentation, these leaves are put on hot iron plates and
roasted, then smoked over pine wood, rich in resin.
Finest Shizuoku Sencha
Also known as ‘Dew of Pearl’, the shrubs covered with bamboo mats two weeks before plucking.
The ‘shade’ tea develops less tannin but has a stimulating effect due to its high caffeine content and
has a mild grassy taste
Jasmine Gold
Jasmine flowers are picked at dusk when their scent is headiest and then layered with long leaves of
fine Chinese green tea. Overnight, the tea breathes in their perfume, capturing the petals' powerful
sweetness to give our blend its full yet soft aroma.
Grannys Garden
A fruity, fresh rhubarb blend rounded off with the delicate sweetness of genuine bourbon vanilla.
Fruity Chamomile
Mild and caffeine free, this dried blossom is hand-picked and sorted, using
only the finest buds producing a fragrant aroma with added orange petals to give a depth of flavour.
