Angels Trumpet (Brugmansia) Photo by 4028mdk09 (Own work) [CC-BY-SA-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons OUTDOOR PLANT - EASY PLANT Type: Perennial (tree) Sun: Sun or shade Water: Regular water Flowers: Depends on variety – white, yellow, pink, red, etc. – Single or double Size: 5’-30’ tall, 4’-15’ wide, depending on variety. These wonderful trees are extremely popular in California. Originally from Central American they have been extensively hybridized. Flowers may be pendulous or horizontal. Colors may be yellow, white, pink, orange, etc., and colors may change with the age of the bloom. Some are highly fragrant, particularly in the evening. Brugmansia sanguinea has smaller red flowers. Note that it is impossible to identify a variety when it is not in bloom. Brugmansia are very easy to propagate and easy to grow. Stick a cutting into soil with at least one joint underground. Keep moist. Note that it is recommended to remove most of the leaves and any flowers or buds before planting a cutting to reduce moisture loss. Strangely, if you take a cutting from wood that has not flowered, it will take 3 or more years to bloom. If you plant a piece that has flowered, it will bloom in 1 year. ALL PARTS OF THIS PLANT ARE POISONOUS IF INGESTED www.ThePlantExchange.com
