Suitable for the rock garden or alpine house . Slow-­‐growing evergreen conifer making a small shrub of spreading, bushy growth. Foliage gold-­‐
yellow.
Bark is white with cinnamon tones. Original tree was selected in 1985 from progeny of B. platyphylla var. szechuanica x B. pendula 'Purpurea,' made in 1978.
Bark is slightly exfoliating when mature. The dark green quality foliage is retained until late autumn. ‘Fargo’ has been shown to be well adapted in Fargo, ND.
Dense, shiny, silky dark green foliage in flattened sprays rising to 2' over a very long time.
Three-­‐dimensional rich green foliage differentiates it from other upright Chamaecyparis. Dense fern-­‐like sprays need pruning to maintain vase shape.
A sport of 'Nana Gracilis' with medium-­‐green, lacy foliage. Ascending branches display silvery under-­‐
foliage. Develops into a compact, conical-­‐shaped, small tree.
A strongly spreading plant with bronze-­‐green foliage in the growing season, changing to orange-­‐

A yellow selection with an upright broad habit that is faster growing than 'Nana Lutea', but slower than 'Aurea'. The foliage does not burn in full sun.

plant, this one was chosen by Welch in 1960.

Low-­‐growing, suckering, 3' to 5' tall and 3' to 5' or more wide, spreading deciduous shrub. Foliage isûglossy dark green; flowers sulphur-­‐yellow, 1/2" long, borne in 2" to 3" diameter, 3-­‐ to 7-­‐flowered cymes onûthe current season's growth in June and July into August.
Deciduous mounded shrub to 3' tall, golden flowers in mid summer.
Vigorous, spreading shrub. Light yellow, 3/4" diameter flowers occur 3-­‐9 together in clusters on stem and lateral branches. Leaves are suffused with burgundy.

Foliage is not typical of J. squamata and this may be a hybrid between J. squamata and J. chinensis 'Pfitzeriana Aurea'.
Narrow conical habit, 2-­‐3 m. high, ascending branches, twigs very thin, yellow-­‐green; all needles scale-­‐like, light green to yellow-­‐green.
Tree with very irregularly horizontal crown, stem also frequently divided with many leaders. Found frequently in the wild since 1836; also observed in cultivation.
Conical type that matures slowly into a beautifully compact, broadly pyramidal plant, the perfect dwarf Christmas tree. Named after Lord Clanbrassil of Ireland, who introduced several Picea abies cultivars during the late 18th century.
Nest type, 'Elegans' tends to grow into a more rounded, low, dome shape. Can be easily distinguished from the other 'Nid' forms by an earlier bud break.
A very prostrate form of the Norway Spruce. If staked up, its branches will cascade down creating a pedulous specimen.
An irregularly shaped dwarf shrub with nice color; thickish needles, tan stem, and bright brown buds.
A tight, slightly irregular mound-­‐forming dwarf with grey-­‐green needles that taper towards the branch tips producing a bottle brush effect.
Prominent stems and buds are cinnamon-­‐colored, and the overall effect is of a boldly textured, compact plant.
A witch's broom discovered on P. abies 'Nidiformis' around 1958. This plant forms a miniature nest of very dense habit with very short needles.

Nest type. Short, dark-­‐green foliage on a very uniformly branched plant. Globose habit when young, spreading with age. Conical gumdrop shaped dwarf. Dense and very slow growing selection develops into a broad conical shape with age. Light green, thin needles and light brown stems.
Dwarf that is smaller, and with shorter and thinner needles than 'Conica'. During the growing season, needles at the end of the shoots are arranged in a distinctive twist.

Tree with weeping habit, presenting a beautiful cascading effect, used as a spreading, undulating ground cover. A dwarf, congested form with a tufted habit; it will occasionally put up a long shoot with congested needles at the tip.
A witches broom found by Diamont Nurseries in Germany with short yellowish green needles.
A dwarf form that develops a "beehive" form about 40 cm tall with short, very thin, outspread and drooping branches; needles uneven in length, thin, ruffled.

One of the most reliable, re-­‐blooming perennial bulbs; all yellow, petals not as recurved as some others i this division; 8-­‐12" tall.û
Small bulbous perennial to 20cm tall, with narrow, dark green leaves and flowers 4cm across, bright yellow corona.
Bright green leaves and flowers 7cm wide, with bright yellow, slightly reflexed perianth segments and a bright orange trumpet.
Division 1. Plants with creamy white petals and pretty yellow trumpets that flare at the end. Plants force well, grow 5-­‐6" tall.
A miniature that is an all yellow form of N. 'Minnow'; many florets per stem; 5-­‐6" tall.û
Plants reach 6" in height; yellow flowers have a long cup and reflexed petals, effective in April.
Foliage has a dark purple cast on its tips throughout the summer; in fall the foliage turns dark black-­‐purple.
Plants reach 8"-­‐10" in height. Does not self sow. Introduced by Ornamental Plantings of Greenport, New York.

Plants 15" tall and 18" wide with dark purple, fleshy leaves. In summer, the clumps are topped with pink-­‐purple flowers.

A red-­‐green carpet forming sedum with ruby flowers in June and July. Grows 4-­‐6" tall.
Plants 12" tall and spreading to 2' across with purple leaves and russet-­‐red flowers.
Plants have round leaves on 2-­‐3" stems topped with yellow, star-­‐shaped flowers. Leaves turn bronze in the fall.
Very tight, medium to large heads of blue-­‐green leaves with a blush of red on the edges.
Handsome form which grows 1 1/2' to 3' tall, and forms a low, thick tangle of stems; Fall color red-­‐
purpleûor red-­‐orange.û
Small white flowers are borne in 4"-­‐6" broad in June, July and August; profuse and showy.
