TREE INFORMATION SHEET Genus and species Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei ‘Tuscarora’ Common name/s Crepe Myrtle ‘Tuscarora’ Origin China (Lagerstroemia indica) Japan (Lagerstroemia fauriei) Description Crepe myrtle ‘Tuscarora’ is a deciduous tree with an oval shaped canopy and upright branching that can reach a height of up to 6 metres. Like many Crepe Myrtle cultivars available today Tuscarora is a hybrid of Lagerstroemia indica and Lagerstroemia fauriei. This pairing provides resistance to powdery mildew to which Lagerstroemia indica alone is susceptible. It has glossy dark green leaves that change to yellow, red and orange in autumn. New leaves have a bronze tint. In summer, crepe myrtle ‘Tuscarora’ produces showy candy pink flowers and features exfoliating bark which reveals attractive mottled trunks from cinnamon brown to pale cream tones.
