Briggs offers four outstanding varieties of Nandina! ‘Moon Bay’ Nandina domestica globosa minor ‘Moon Bay’. Light, airy green in Summer, brilliant scarlet red in Winter. 4’H x 5’W. USDA 6 to 9. ‘Gulfstream’ NANDINA DOMESTICA, a.k.a ‘Fire Power’ Nandina domestica ‘Fire Power’. New growth is lime green and ages to light-to-medium green. Foliage may be tinged yellow or red in Summer, with outer leaves turning burgundy to brilliant red in Fall and Winter. 2’H x 3’W. USDA 6 to 10. ‘Harbour Dwarf’ Nandina domestica ‘Harbour Dwarf’. Foliage appears dense because leaves are closely spaced on stems. Dark green (sometimes bluish), compound leaves appear very airy and lacy, and go to burgundy in the Fall and Winter. 2’H x 4’W. USDA 6 to 10. Heavenly Bamboo Although not a true bamboo, Nandina’s stems and bud sheaths look very similar to those of its namesake. Unlike true bamboo, however, Nandina is far from invasive, rarely clumping over 4 feet wide, or growing over 4 feet high. Nandina is relatively drought tolerant after establishment, but will benefit from occasional Summer watering. All varieties share a symmetrical, rounded habit that stays fairly compact. Plant Nandina in areas of full sun, to dappled or afternoon shade. Nandina offers excellent seasonality. New foliage comes out fresh green, going to varied shades in the Summer, and brilliant red-burgundies in the Fall and Winter (more sun equals better coloration). Bright red berries occasionally adorn Nandina in the Winter. No matter the shade, Nandina’s leaves are an excellent contrast to heavier textured plants. Versatile Nandina is lovely planted en masse, and is just as striking in mixed borders, foundation plantings, and container settings. PICTURED: ‘Gulf Stream’ Nandina domestica ‘Gulf Stream’. Year round interest with a variety of foliage colors. New growth is bronzy orange; older leaves range from blue-green, to gold and red; reddish-orange tones are predominant in Winter. 4’H x 5’W. USDA 6 to 9. Quality that Grows™ BRIGGS NURSERY [email protected] / (800) 444-1515 PO Box 658, Elma, WA 98541
