Continued Improvements
and Enhancements
SUPRA PDM is the industry-proven,
high-performance, high-volume, highreliability NoSQL database manager
that supports the mission-critical
applications of hundreds of companies
and thousands of users today.
Cincom® SUPRA® PDM
for UNIX® and Linux®
Effectively Managing Access to Your NoSQL Data
SUPRA Server PDM (Physical Data
Manager) provides the following:
• High reliability and high performance A must for mission-critical applications
that run on your major environments.
• Real-time SQL Access to SUPRA Use SQL to access SUPRA in real
time through SUPRA SQL Access.
This allows you to use standard SQL
reporting and programming tools.
• Fast processing - The time required
to complete batch processes has
been significantly reduced. SUPRA’s
Read-Ahead Buffering retrieves multiple
records for each serial read operation.
Performance testing shows batch
applications complete in half the time.
• Multiple platforms - SUPRA PDM
is supported on IBM mainframes,
OpenVMS, UNIX and Linux, and
provides a great deal of compatibility between these platforms.
• Excellent price/performance Support of the Linux platform
provides you with a wide range
of platform and operating-system
alternatives. Combining SUPRA's
high-volume processing with the low
cost of Linux can provide a solution
with excellent price/performance.
• Cross-platform compatibility Improved compatibility with the IBM
platform allows you to migrate data
and applications to UNIX or Linux.
Product Overview
SUPRA PDM is Cincom’s NoSQL networked database system designed
for high-volume, scalable, online transaction processing, as well as fast
batch processing. A variety of tools and functions allow you to tailor
your database to fit your specific needs and environment. SUPRA PDM
provides a high degree of control over the storage and navigation of
data, allowing high-volume transaction processing. SUPRA PDM powers
the strategic applications of many of the world’s largest corporations.
Major Features
Fast and Scalable
An efficient client API provides simple yet powerful functions for
navigating user-defined databases using hashing, link paths and indexes.
Many of SUPRA PDM’s functions provide direct access to your data with a
single I/O. Unlike SQL, these functions allow the application to navigate
the database in the most efficient manner, providing superior performance.
Configurable internal memory buffers are used in the server to further
enhance performance by reducing physical I/O. A variety of buffer
configurations are available, including fully buffered files. SUPRA PDM
supports 64-bit platforms providing scalability for large database
implementations requiring larger physical and virtual memory.
SIMPLIFICATION THROUGH INNOVATION®
Multiple Platforms
SUPRA PDM is supported on IBM mainframes, OpenVMS,
UNIX and Linux. Also, applications are supported on Windows.
Support of the Linux platform provides you with a wide
range of platform and operating-system alternatives.
SUPRA supports the community versions of Red Hat and
SUSE Linux. You can also take advantage of the security,
reliability and scalability of the enterprise versions.
Combining SUPRA's high-volume processing with the
low cost of Linux can provide a solution with excellent
price/performance.
SQL Access to SUPRA
SQL access to SUPRA enables you to access PDM data
using SQL and standard SQL programming interfaces.
Using SQL to access data in real time allows you to use
standard tools, integrate PDM data with other data
and Web-enable your PDM data. (This is a standard
component that is available with all SUPRA upgrades.)
Extended IBM Compatibility
SUPRA PDM provides compatibility and interoperability
between platforms. Database files and directory definitions
can be moved from one platform to another, and client
applications can operate on one platform and access
database servers on other platforms.
To provide better compatibility between IBM PDM and
UNIX/Linux PDM, Cincom provides an IBM compatibility
mode for UNIX/Linux PDM. Additional support is provided
for database functions that are unique to the IBM platform.
If needed, the database loader can convert IBM data types
to ASCII. Also the database server and database utilities
support both ASCII and IBM data formats.
SUPRA has also been tested with third-party products that
provide compatibility for IBM z/OS and z/VSE CICS and
batch applications on other platforms such as Linux, UNIX
and Windows.
Windows Client
SUPRA PDM Windows Client provides Client-Server
access for your PC applications. (This is a standard
component that is available with all SUPRA upgrades.)
• Communicates with OpenVMS SUPRA, SUPRA UNIX and
IBM z/OS SUPRA via TCP/IP.
• Support for all DML.
• Support for all platform data formats.
• Use with COBOL, C, C++ or Visual Basic apps.
• Support for 64-bit Windows platforms.
