Installing iSynergy
iSynergy is a Web-based application running on 2008 server environment with a Microsoft SQL
Server 2008 database and Windows file sharing image repository. The Application Server portion
utilizes Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) as well as other services, including:
License Service,
Full Text Service and
Document Server Service.
All these components and services may be distributed to run on separate server machines for
load balancing and distributed processing.
iSynergy provides full support for VM and VM Enterprise Management. Virtual Machine
environments may run on different physical servers. iSynergy licensing takes this potential reallocation of physical servers into account allowing such physical reconfiguration to occur
dynamically without breaking iDatix software licenses.
This section provides only an overview of installation and upgrade requirements for iSynergy
3.11. Full installation details are provided in the iSynergy 3.11 Installation and Upgrade Guide
for use by technical IT staff supporting the installation.
Supported Server Platforms
Windows 2003 Server or 2008
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008
IIS 6.0 or above.
Note: It is highly recommended that the server be updated with all the current Microsoft
service packs, patches and hot fixes for both Server and SQL Server prior to installing
the iSynergy eSpeed Database. For more information, please refer to:
Hardware

Please note that these hardware requirements are for a baseline iSynergy system with up to 25
users. The iDatix Support team should be consulted when purchasing or acquiring hardware for
an iSynergy implementation.

iSynergy Requirements and Installation
The following components are required as part of the iSynergy installation:
iSynergy eSpeed Database
iSynergy Application Server and Supporting Web Services:
iSynergy Server
iSynergy Application Web Service
iSynergy Document Web Service
iSynergy License Web Service
iSynergy File Server.
SQL Server Configuration
The SQL Server manages the eSpeed information database for iSynergy, and where all of the
references and statuses exist for tracking the information contained within the system. This
makes iSynergy very expandable and customizable for the Client.
The Database is an open architecture to allow third parties and clients to add further
enhancements and interface with other systems.
Installation of the iSynergy eSpeed database on the SQL Server has six main requirements:
1. Windows 2003 or 2008 Server.
2. Knowledge of the SQL Server SA account password.
The iSynergy setup program needs administrator privileges to install the iSynergy
eSpeed database.
3. Microsoft SQL 2005 or 2008.
4. .Net Framework Service Pack 2.0 SP2
5. Knowledge of the desired installation location of the iSynergy eSpeed Database.
This decision is based upon network architecture, data redundancy policy, and disaster
recovery policy.

Web Server Configuration
Windows Server should have all of the IIS 6.0 or above components installed by default which are
required for installation of the iSynergy Web services.
Note: Detailed instructions for installation or upgrading to iSynergy 3.11 are provided in the:
iSynergy 3.11 Installation & Upgrade Manual for Windows 2008 & SQL 2008

iSynergy Login
Accessing iSynergy is as simple as starting your Internet browser, entering the iSynergy URL
address and logging in.
1. Start your Internet Explorer browser and enter the appropriate Web address for the
iSynergy system in the address field.
Note: After an install, Internet Explorer should automatically launch the log in dialog,

support Mozilla Firefox internet browsers, only Internet Explorer.

Note: When Active Directory Integrated Services (ADIS) features are activated for
iSynergy and once the initial Login step is successfully completed, you may request the
launch and use of other iDatix products such as ScanDox without the bother of having to
Login again. Since you are already identified by the prior Login, other iDatix product
Login prompts are suppressed and automatically bypassed due to this Login Once
feature.
