• People are not sure when Desiderius was born,
and the year of his birth is uncertain, but they
Believe he died in 1536.
• He was born in the Netherlands at Rotterdam
in the county of Holland.
• He was born into being against Catholicism.

Desiderius was always against Catholics, and was ordained priest in his
believes to Christianity.
•He made many criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church, and led to a
Reformation which was critical views in a spiritual and social sphere.

men lusted for war.

HIS LIFE AS A HUMANIST AND
HOW HE HAS INFLUENCED ME
• The meaning for Humanist during Desidurius time is different from the
meaning today.
• During his time it meant that he was a “grammarian” which is a people
who deeply studies, especially in languages.
• Many people though he was a great humanist and he knew many languages
such as Greek, Dutch, English, French, and Hebrew.
• The way Desidurius has influenced me is in the hard
work that he has done and how far he has went to achieve
his goals, so it makes me want to reach mines too.
