Geometry Vocabulary Assignment MA 118, Fall 2010, Overmann For full credit, turn in this assignment and grading rubric with your notebook. For this assignment, you will provide mathematics definitions for geometric terms. You can find definitions in our textbook, another book, on the web, or some other mathematical source. Each definition must be typed (word-processed) or the assignment will be awarded a score of 0. A diagram appropriate to the definition should accompany each term, although one diagram can apply to several definitions. The diagram can be neatly drawn, copied, or cut and pasted from some other source. You will be graded on the definition, diagram appropriateness, spelling, neatness, organization, and creativity. As you know, when you obtain and copy information from another source, you must credit your resource and authors. To this end, attach to this assignment a typed, alphabetized reference list, with any reference information source you used listed according to the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Each in paper citation must reference an information source from your reference page. The Kent Library website has APA style information for help. Each definition must be referenced according to APA style. 1 – Dimensional Forms 2 – Dimensional Forms 3 – Dimensional Forms point polygon sphere ray diagonal cylinder plane regular polygon cone line segment prism pentagon line rectangular prism hexagon parallel lines cube heptagon pyramid perpendicular lines octagon edges skew lines central angle vertices collinear points interior angle faces angle exterior angle Platonic solids acute angle triangle regular tetrahedron obtuse angle obtuse triangle regular hexahedron right angle acute triangle regular octahedron straight angle scalene triangle regular dodecahedron reflex angle isosceles triangle regular icosahedron complementary angles equilateral triangle supplementary angles right triangle vertical angles quadrilateral corresponding angles trapezoid alternate interior angles rhombus simple curve parallelogram closed curve rectangle convex kite non-convex (concave) square circle center radius diameter chord tangent arc sector Geometry Notebook, MA118, Fall 2010, Grading Rubric (2 points) The paper will not be accepted if the definitions are not word-processed. Pictures or diagrams may be hand-drawn, computer drawn, or cut and paste.
