Type ME-7
Voltage Transformer
ME-7 Voltage Transformers are available for indoor metering applications on low voltage 60Hz circuits
(700 V or less). The ME-7 has been approved by Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada (C.C.A.C.)
for revenue billing (approval number T-309). It is a group 1 transformer complying with the thermal
requirements of CSA standard CAN3-C13-M83. Continuous thermal rating is 200 VA. The ME-7 is a
700 V insulation class transformer.
FEATURES
»» High-quality, grain-oriented silicon steel cores ensure maximum
accuracy
»» Compression type primary and secondary connectors allow
quick and reliable installation
»» Edge guides and a permanent center mounting stud provide a
secure nameplate mounting system
»» Highly visible “hot-stamped” ratings on transformer sides have
high resistance to both mechanical abrasion and fading due to
ultraviolet exposure.
»» Polyurethane molding and a plastic shell produce a compact
transformer with high dielectric and mechanical strength, and a
smooth, blemish-free surface.
CONSTRUCTION
»» Assembly is molded in a “state of the art” polyurethane material
selected for its high dielectric and mechanical strength, moisture
resistance, and excellent thermal conductivity.
SPEC SHEET
»» Material is potted and cured at room temperature, eliminating
many of the insulation degrading effects characteristic of epoxy
systems that use high temperature oven gelling and curing.
»» Very little shrinkage during gelation, less stress on core and
windings, allowing accuracy characteristics to be maintained with
a high degree of consistency
»» Outer transformer shell is injection molded from high impact
lexan, which provides a blemish free surface and is highly
resistant to UV and humidity.
»» Polyurethane construction technique produces a compact, neat,
and rugged transformer.
CORE & WINDING ASSEMBLY
»» High-grade, grain-oriented steel is used in the large crosssection, wound core. By rigidly controlling conditions, these
cores are manufactured and heat-treated to produce the best
magnetic properties possible.
»» Primary and secondary coils are wound from coated copper wire
to provide high turn-to-turn dielectric strength
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TERMINALS
»» Compression type with slot screws accessible from the top of the transformer. Clear plastic covers with sealing holes prevent tampering
after installation.
