BALLET THEATRE OF QUEENSLAND
ANNIVERSERY GALA TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The 80th Anniversary Gala will take place on July 30, 2017 from 6.30pm at the Concert Hall QPAC.
There will be only the one performance.
Former BTQ dancers now studying at dance institutions across the world have been invited to
perform along side a group of local former BTQ dancers, who will be specially selected by audition.
There will also be other guest artists, and the BTQ On-line History Archive will also be launched,
which should make the Gala a glittering occasion.
AUDITION RESULTS: Dancers will be notified of audition outcome by email.
FEES: An all-inclusive fee of $295.00 (incl. GST) will be payable to cover the cost of
rehearsals, costuming, and other ancillary costs associated with mounting the gala. The fee
does not include membership of BTQ, and therefore comes with NO voting rights.
FEES MUST BE PAID ON ACCEPTANCE OF OUR OFFER TO PERFORM IN THE
GALA AND RECEIVED BY 14TH APRIL 2017 by credit card or direct deposit to Ballet Theatre
Queensland. If you have auditioned for the Gala only, the payment/tax invoice form must
accompany payment, as well as the conditions of acceptance form, dancer information form, and
medical form, to secure your position. If not received, it will be assumed that the dancer does not
wish to take up the offer and the position will be offered to the next short-listed applicant. PLEASE
NOTE: if you have ALSO been accepted into BTQ for Little Mermaid, only the payment/tax
invoice is required on payment of the Gala fee.
REHEARSALS: A schedule and venue are yet to be confirmed for all rehearsals, but they will
generally be on Sundays, and not in conflict with rehearsals for Little Mermaid. There will be
rehearsals during the June/July school holidays, also at a time to be decided, minimizing conflict
with other winter schools. Full details will be available by the audition (March 19) allowing dancers
to make an informed decision about their availability.
A COMMITMENT TO BE AT ALL REHEARSALS IS MANDATORY. While every effort
will be made to minimize rehearsal hours to accommodate dancers’ busy lives, no absenteeism will
be allowed. The rehearsal period is short and intensive and if a dancer is unable to commit fully,
she/he will be replaced. It will be the parent’s/dancer’s responsibility to check emails for
newsletters and extra rehearsal calls.
COSTUMES: All costumes are supplied and owned by Ballet Theatre of Queensland, however,
there is NO costume hire fee for Gala dancers. Dancers must supply their own class dance attire and
their shoes for the Gala as directed by the costume designer. Shoes, tights and make-up are to be in
excellent condition.
CASTING: The decision of the Artistic Director is final and no discussion will be entered into.
COMMUNICATION: All communication is to be via the Executive Director. The Artistic
Director is not to be approached by any parent in relation to any Ballet Theatre of
Queensland matter, (Gala or otherwise), either directly, via email or other written
communication.
RESIGNATION: Resignation from the Gala must be in writing. Our constitution requires that any
monies outstanding at the time of resignation must be paid in full and there will be NO refund
of fees FOR ANY REASON.
