Here are a few general guidelines: Find out the dimensions and weight of the UPS to be used (include any battery cabinets). Make sure that the installation site has enough space available. Does the UPS have adequate ventilation? The UPS uses internal fans to cool the UPS. You should not install the UPS in a sealed container or small, sealed room. Ensure the UPS can be placed in its final position. Will the UPS components fit through doors? Are there any stairs? Is the floor strong enough? The UPS and its battery cabinets can be heavy so make sure the site has the proper floor loading capacity. Check to see if there is an adequate electrical supply near to the UPS. Compare UPS fuse ratings (amps) and breaker types and whether any electrical work may be needed (i.e. cabling to the UPS terminal block input). The site may have its own electrical contractors. OPTIONS Maintenance Bypass Cabinet The maintenance bypass cabinet is a wall-mounted option equipped with a bypass switch. It allows you to service or replace the UPS without shutting down the equipment connected to the UPS. Seismic Enclosure The 9 kVA UPS can be configured for seismic zone 4 installations. A 12-slot UPS enclosure and a 9-slot battery enclosure are for use in areas such as California that have earthquake safety requirements. Note that the UPS enclosure has 12 slots instead of 9. Alarm Relay Card The Alarm Relay Card is used to connect the UPS to a DEFINITY Remote Maintenance Board to monitor alarm contacts.
