Advocacy Resources
Advocacy is speaking out on issues that you care about and offering your opinion and suggestions for how
to improve something to the people who are in control. The following organizations and coalitions provide
important advocacy resources:
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network www.acscan.org supports evidence based policy and
legislative solutions to eliminate cancer as a major health problem and works to encourage elected officials and
candidates to make cancer a top national priority.
C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition www.fightcolorectalcancer.org demands a cure for colon and rectal cancer
and pushes for changes in policy that will increase and improve research, and empower survivors to raise their
voices against the status quo.
C-Change www.c-changetogether.org assembles cancer leaders from the private, public, and not-for-profit
sectors across the continuum of prevention, early detection, treatment and quality of life.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society www.lls.org the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.
Lung Cancer Alliance www.lungcanceralliance.org the only national non-profit organization dedicated
exclusively to provide information, support and advocacy for people living with or at risk for lung cancer;
helping patients, their families, and those at risk for the disease by raising national awareness and securing
multiple millions in public health dollars for lung cancer research.
National Alliance of Prostate Cancer Coalitions www.naspcc.org an umbrella organization encompassing
participation by state prostate cancer coalitions, state prostate cancer task forces or state prostate cancer foundations.

Support and Education Network (NYSBCSEN) is a statewide coalition of not-for-profit organizations united in
the fundamental belief that all people facing breast cancer, including those in their support network, have access
to quality care, comprehensive support services and programs, and up-to-date information including: prevention
and risk reduction, treatment options, and cancer related research efforts, including clinical trials in an effort to
inspire the changes necessary to create a healthy environment and eradicate breast cancer from our lives.

delivers a unified message to leaders on the need for increased cancer-related appropriations.

opinion leaders to advocate for increased funding for breast cancer research and greater access to cancer
