PICK 4 SPELLING
You may pick and choose any of the activities to complete by Friday. Every activity MUST be turned in to your
teacher by Friday’s spelling test. Your grade will be based on the following:




A=4 Activities
B=3 Activities
C=2 Activities
D=1 Activity
1. Type your list of words on the computer. Change each vowel to a different color. Print your list.
2. Make an acrostic with your words. Write each word up and down on your paper, one letter to a line.
Find words that begin with each letter. For example:
B=butterfly, e=eggplant.
3. Hold two different colored markers, crayons, or pens in your hand.
Copy the words in your best handwriting.
4. Write the words in reverse ABC order.
5. Make a word search puzzle on graph paper. Be sure to include all of your words. Give it to a friend
to solve.
6. Write your words in shapes. Put all the shapes together to make a picture.
7. Use all your words to write a letter to Superman or another super hero.
8. Make flash cards to help you study.
9. Design a Spelling game to play with your friends. It can be a board game, a card game, a guessing
game, or some other idea.
10. Design a pretty bookmark on thick paper. Write your list on the bookmark.
11. Type all your words on the Anagram Fun site. Record the anagrams that you receive.
12. Pair up with a friend. Give each other a practice test. Be sure to grade it!
13. Give your parents or another adult a Spelling test!
14. Make a mobile from a coat hanger and pretty paper. Include all spelling words.
15. Make a crossword puzzle using your Spelling words. Be sure to include clues, you may use
Dictionary.com or WordCentral.com to look up the definitions of the words.
16. Scramble all of your words. Give them to a friend to unscramble.
17. Write the alphabet on a piece of paper. Under A, write $1.00. Under B write $2.00, and so on. Figure
up the dollar amount of each of your spelling words.
18. Find another student that also makes flash cards. Combine your cards to play “Go Fish.”
19. Cut letters out of magazines and newspapers to spell your words.
20. Make Spelling Pyramids. Write the first letter. On the next line, write the first and second letters. On
the third line, write the first, second, and third letters, and so on.
21. Look at your words. Arrange the letters of each word in alphabetical order.
22. Write your letters in glue on heavy paper. Sprinkle Jell-O over the words.
23. Use alphabet cereal or pasta letters to glue your words on heavy paper.
24. Write a poem using your words.
25. Classify the words according to parts of speech. Record your classification in a table.
26. Make up a rap or song using all of your Spelling words! Perform it for the class!
27. Make up a code. Write your words in code. Give it to a friend to solve.
28. Write a story using all of your spelling words.
