What can I do to help my child? What can my child do to help themselves? Any other questions? What is my child studying this year? Additional Science (Studied in Y10 and Y11) Further Additional Science (Studied in Y11) Why two qualifications? In GCSE Science students will generally do 2 qualifications (Core and Additional Science). This counts towards the EBacc qualification (a government measure of students attainment). Your child has been identified as talented in Science and thus been given the opportunity to obtain a third GCSE (Further Additional Science). They have already got their Core Science (Y10). As a result, your child will sit Additional and Further Additional Science Examinations in Y11. What is the content in these qualifications? What can my child do to help themselves? • Set aside study time during the week. Keep to it! • Organise! (Make a revision timetable, revision aids, respond to challenges in your book.) • Buy a Revision Guide (£5.50 from parent pay). • Find/Learn revision strategies that work for you. Evolve the way you learn by trying new ways to revise. • MONITOR – EVALUATE - PLAN • Homework once per cycle per subject • Talk to your peers if you get stuck. • If you are still not sure come and find us.
