We invite you to participate in our inaugural event: City Solve Scavenger Hunt 2014. This event will take place on Saturday,
10/25/14 at 11:30am at The Friendly Spot, S Alamo St, San Antonio TX. The event will raise funds and awareness, while
providing an atmosphere of fun for all ages while taking part in what can be only described at The Amazing Race – San
Antonio Style. All proceeds benefit the START Cancer Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The START Cancer Center has been committed to understanding how cancer develops; characterizing new lifesaving
approaches for cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment. The START Center has been involved in clinical
trials and research for advanced stages of melanoma. Without their help, stage 4 treatment would be stagnant. Our goal
is to add funding for this research and to save lives for those with advanced malignant melanoma.
Our mission is to fight melanoma by increasing awareness, supporting patients, survivors and families and funding important
research. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, killing an estimated 8,800 people in the US in 2011 (American
Cancer Society), but with early detection it can be very treatable. Recent statistics show that one person dies from
malignant melanoma every 57 minutes. Just two years ago, deaths were every 62 minutes.
In addition to in-kind donations, we are seeking sponsorship for the event. We have several opportunities for businesses such
as yours to partner with us. In appreciation for your sponsorship, we will announce our partnership, in part or whole based
on our contribution packages such as:
- Inclusion in media releases, social, signage and advertising from both City Solve Urban Adventures and Miles Against
Melanoma
- Logo on City Solve t-shirts that are distributed to all registered teams
- Promotional items in swag bags for all participants
We have been personally affected by melanoma. Jaime Leeper’s husband is currently fighting advanced melanoma. She
sees first-hand how this disease and treatment affects one’s body. In south Texas, she was unable to find support directly in
the community aside from the team of doctors who are treating her husband. She is determined to educate the community
about the harmful effects of UV rays from sunlight and tanning beds and create support for those who are in the same
position.

are expecting at least 200 teams at the event; we intend to use a variety of mechanisms to promoting the show to draw in
the community.
