Stage|Set|Scenery 2017– 20 to 22 June November 11, 2016 Stage|Set|Scenery sponsors the Baden Baden Awards 2016 • Newcomer Awards for graduates of combined theatre, film, TV and events courses to be presented on 2 December 2016 • Stage|Set|Scenery will take place from 20 to 22 June 2017 and feature attractive events for newcomers In order to make people aware of the achievements of those working behind the stage and of their frequent ingenuity the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce has set up an award to honour Germany’s most creative trainees. Taking place for the eighth time, the Baden Baden Awards 2016 will be honouring outstanding final papers by recently graduated stage set artists and stage set sculptors, make-up artists, sound and image media designers, event representatives, event technicians and property masters. The Baden-Baden Awards are extremely important for the cultural sector, which like many others is being impacted by demographic change.” Messe Berlin Group Messedamm 22 A lack of young people taking up technically skilled and administrative jobs has led to growing competition for specialists on the home and international employment market. From 20 to 22 June 2017 Stage|Set|Scenery will be hosting a wide range of events inviting cultural institutions and the ‘employees of tomorrow’ to make contact with one another. The Anatomical Theatre developed by DTHG based on designs by Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden, and supported by CAST, ETC and Lichtblick, will provide Stage|Set|Scenery with a location for holding numerous training courses for students of all ages, newcomers and professionals. As part of its career guidance service Stage|Set|Scenery will be organising a national and international job market and advertising a range of professional training courses held by academies, technical colleges and universities in Hall 23. It will also be organising live demonstrations, including by newcomers training as stage set artists and stage set sculptors. Besides dealing with the technical requirements of a production the papers at Stage|Set|Scenery given by Bund der Szenographen, the three-day GtKos costume-makers’ conference, Wilhelm-Ostwald-Schule Berlin, Oberstufenzentrum für Gestaltung and Euraka will also be highlighting artistic aspects. Following the successful debut of the Weltenbauer.Award a new event will be taking place at Stage|Set|Scenery 2017: the Weltenbauer Youngsters.Awards. 150 years ago the opera Roméo et Juliette was first performed by Charles Gounod on 27 April 1867. It is with this event in mind that an assignment will be given to the contestants of the Weltenbauer.Youngsters.Awards 2017. Trainees, students (ranging from schools to vocational and higher education) from any country specialising in the theatre, films and event technology are invited to submit their designs and works on the subject of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. These may be individual or team works focusing on stage design, the theatre stage, costumes, decoration, set design, make-up, lighting concepts, videos or audio installations. Candidates must submit their entries in digital form at www.wir-sind-weltenbauer.de no later than 28 February 2017.
