basic needs- what all living things must have to live and grow. Water, air, and
light are basic needs for plants.

Basic needs keep things living and growing.

Tip- Survive and alive end with the same sounds.
When you survive, you stay alive.
Lungs- the part of the body used to get oxygen from air
Tip- Lungs are a little like balloons.
Lungs get bigger and smaller when air goes in and out.
Gills- parts of an animal that take in oxygen from water
Tip- Lung begins with the sound at the end of gill.
Gills and lungs help animals get oxygen.
Shelter- a safe place to live
Tip- Shelter and shell begin with the same sounds.

7. Humans and some animals eat both plants and animals.
8. Humans and many animals need a shelter, or safe place to live.
