1. COMPRENSIÓN LECTORA (20 pts)
A. Read the following article and answer the questions.

2. COMPRENSIÓN AUDITIVA (20 pts):
You are studying abroad in Madrid for a semester, and part of the program includes having a
“language exchange friend” with whom to practice Spanish. Your new Spanish friend invites you
to have lunch at his favorite restaurant. He recommends you to have the “Menú del día” (Daily
Special) because you get more food for a better price, and you can still choose among different
foods to get. Listen carefully as the waiter tells you the options for the “Menú del día.”
3. COMPRENSIÓN DE VOCABULARIO (20 pts)
PARTE A: Definitions (10 Points)
Match the images with corresponding words (2 points for each correct answer) by writing the
letter of the word to the left of its corresponding image. There are two extra words that you do
not need to use.
PARTE B. Direcciones (10 points)
Your friend is new to Irvine and is excited to go to the beach. You gave him/her a map with the
directions from UCI to Corona del Mar State Beach but they need you to explain it to them. Fill
in the blanks following the maps. Complete 10 out of 14 blanks. Some words will repeat.
4. COMPRENSIÓN DE GRAMÁTICA
Parte A: Mi rutina diaria: In the following activity, you must write about your daily routine
and the routine of the characters from Sol y viento. You should only complete 4 of the 5 verbs
form the bank and do not repeat any verbs. Conjugate in the present. (4 pts total for appropriate
conjugation)
Parte B: Ser y estar con adjetivos (4 points)
In the following exercise, you will write construct statements based on the images from the film
Sol y viento. The statements should express how each of the characters normally are and how
they feel at the moment of the photograph. Be careful to set the verbs “ser” and “estar”
appropriately according to the situation. ¡OJO! You must conjugate the verb AND complete the
statement. (4 pts: 1/2 for conjugation/appropriate verb, 1/2 pt for sensible statement for each
statement)
Parte C: Yo-irregular verbs (6 points)
In the following exercise, conjugate the verbs in the bank to reflect what you do after each of the
following actions. Do not repeat any of the verbs. Conjugate in the present tense. (6 pts total: 1
pt for conjugation, 1 pt for sensible sentence)
Parte D: Pretérito (10 points)
You are at the doctors with a bad case of indigestion because of something you ate. The doctor is
asking you what you ate in the last 24 hours so you explain what you had for each meal. Use
verbs that reflect the meal time in the preterit and use food vocabulary that you have learned. No
verb may be repeated and each verb must represent the meal that corresponds with the time of
the day that you eat it. (10 points – 1 for correct sentence and one for correct use of verb)
Parte E: Sol y Viento (10 points)
1. Conteste en español con verbos en el pretérito. (6 points -2 points for each answer)
2. Complemento de objeto directo: Replace the direct object with its corresponding direct
object pronoun (4 points)
