Geometry Name Project (Teacher Notes)
Materials: (if done in class)
1. At least 1/2 page of Poster Board
2. Ruler or other straight edge
3. Colors –crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.
Procedure:
1. This project will be done as an individual, take-home assignment.
2. Students will be writing their name in block letters and then identifying a number of geometric
properties associated with the individual letters, and assigning points to these properties. (This is good
practice for vocabulary, identifying, and labeling.)
3. A rubric is provided for grading purposes.

Instructions:
Construct your first name, or the name everyone calls you, in block letters. Do NOT use a computer to
make the letters. Under each letter you will be labeling and assigning points based on the geometric
properties associated with that letter (an example is attached). You will then total the points for each
letter and finally total the points for your entire name.
**Be sure to put your full name and class period on the back of your project.**
For each letter of your name, give one “point” for each of the appropriate items listed below that you
can label.
