What is the Limelight Facial? We specialize in CUTERA LIMELIGHT PHOTOREJUVENATION (Cutera Limelight IPL) which is a medical grade, non-invasive light based device designed to combat age spots, freckles, skin redness, tiny veins and sun damage. The heating of the abnormal red and brown pigment breaks it down into smaller particles which are then eliminated by body’s own immune cycle. For permanently-dilated, tiny blood vessels (telangiectasia) and related rosacea, this light therapy selectively destroys the abnormal blood vessels that cause the problem, allowing thickerwalled micro-vessels to be formed. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage. The result is an exceptionally-effective skin rejuvenation treatment with minimal discomfort. The Benefits Helps remove solar lentigines and skin pigmentation Improve skin tone Restore youthful glow to your face Helps reduce vascular lesion Minimal to no downtime U.S. FDA clearance for a variety of indications including benign pigmented lesions and vascular lesions What areas can be treated? The Limelight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolletage with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment. What does the treatment do? Following a Limelight treatment, brown spots will start to darken and skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness. Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or tiny veins will decrease and the mottled look of the complexion will improve. Which patients benefit from Limelight treatment? uneven skin tone or unwanted red/brown pigmentation small blood vessels, broken capillaries, or vascular lesions that are visible on the skin minor imperfections or abnormalities of the skin texture What do treatments feel like? When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required, however patients are offered a numbing cream to increase comfort. How long will the treatments take? Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour. How many treatments will I need? One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun damaged skin. Darker spots and vascular lesions are targeted first and then treatment is adjusted to lighter pigmented or vascular lesions on subsequent visits. Treatments are usually spaced one month apart. A test patch helps us to understand your skin to optimize results and reduce the chance of any undesirable outcomes. What happens after the treatment? Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Makeup can be applied to cover the redness. When will I see results? Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve. Will the spots and redness reappear over time? New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad spectrum sunscreen such as zinc when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, but you should be pleased with the results.
