About The Royal Opera House
The Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden is home to The Royal Ballet, The Royal
Opera, ROH2 – the organisation’s contemporary arm –, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera
House. The building is the third theatre on the site, with both previous theatres destroyed by
fire. Originally built in 1732, the Opera House was extensively rebuilt in the late 1990s. As well
as the main auditorium, the building also includes the Linbury Studio for performances of
contemporary works.
About The Royal Ballet
The Royal Ballet is Britain’s largest ballet company and performs a wide-range of repertory
from great classical ballets to new works from the foremost choreographers of today. The
Royal Ballet employs approximately 100 full time dancers with purpose built facilities within
The Royal Opera House. Access is key and performances are seen not just at the Royal Opera
House but via televised and cinematic performances, outdoor Big Screen performances,
international touring and through the work of the Company’s Education department.
About Student Standby
The Royal Opera House Student Standby scheme offers unsold tickets for performances by
The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet to students for just £10. As well as this, members of the
scheme have access to four dedicated student-only performances a year – two by The Royal
Opera and two by The Royal Ballet – at a special discounted price.

About Romeo and Juliet
Kenneth MacMillan’s interpretation of Romeo and Juliet’s doomed love is one of the greatest
examples of 20th-century choreography. This revival by The Royal Ballet brings all the lyrical
beauty and touching fluidity of its intimate moments for the two lovers along with the
grandeur of the ball scene and the action-packed encounters of the opposing Montagues and
Capulets. Beautifully staged with rich period costumes and designs, Romeo and Juliet will
draw you into its intense drama with some of the finest of today’s dancers matched to the
powerful sounds of Prokofiev’s famous music. This is a wonderful chance for you to
experience one of the enduring tragic tales of all time, a classic of the international ballet
repertory and a favourite of Royal Ballet audiences.
