Categories of Offenses

Hadd crimes: crimes that have a specific punishment
listed in the Quran
 Unlawful sexual intercourse
 Sex outside of marriage and adultery
 False accusation of unlawful sexual intercourse
 Drinking wine and/or alcohol
 Theft
 Highway robbery

Hadd punishments include flogging, stoning,
amputation, exile, or execution

For centuries, Sharia was considered one of the
most humane laws in the world
