Each week, you must complete tasks to a value of 20 stars. How you achieve the 20 is up to you! You could do 4 tasks worth 5 stars, or 2 tasks worth 10 etc.
Tick when you have completed an activity- you can only use the same activity 4 times within each term.
If you are completing your work in your jotter, remember to write the task title (Use the bold text to help.)
Illustrate your spelling words creatively.
Break your spelling words into syllables. eg tidy = ti/dy
Hidden picture - Draw a picture and hide your spelling words in
it – eg hide a word in a cloud, in a tree.
Type up your words, using a different font for each one. Print a
copy off, if possible.
Write your words in alphabetical order.
Pyramid words- add a letter at a time so that your spelling
words form a pyramid.
Get someone to test you on your spellings. (Record in your
jotter.)
Rainbow write your words – using different colours.
Write your words, then work out the numbers you would press
on a mobile phone to spell your words.
Write your words in a fancy way – bubble writing, curly etc.
Write your words and highlight the vowels. (a,e,i,o,u)
Spelling scribble – do a scribble then write your words in the
spaces as many times as you can.
Handwrite your words 3 times – best handwriting, joined.
Use a dictionary to find the meaning of each of your words. (You could use an
online dictionary.)
Make up a code for each letter of the alphabet, and then spell your words
using your code.
Write a short story including each of your spelling words. Underline or
highlight your spelling words.
Write synonyms or antonyms for your spelling words. You could use a
thesaurus.
Write a sentence for each of your spelling words.
Create a wordsearch using each of your spelling words.
Create a crossword using your spelling words,
and clues. (Use a ruler!)
Write some alliteration tongue twisters.
Create a comic strip using as many spelling
words in conversation bubbles.
Ransom note: Cut out your spelling words
from magazines/ newspapers, or cut out
letters to spell your words.
Write your spelling words then try to write a word which rhymes with each.
Write silly sentences using your spelling words.
Use your spelling words in questions.
e.g. Word: yellow – Have you ever seen a yellow butterfly?
Create a word cloud using your words. (Either by hand or at wordle.net)
Write a poem using all of your spelling words.
Type your words into spellingcity.com and play some of the free games. Write
down which games you play, and ask a parent to sign.
Create a poster that includes all of your spelling words.
Around and around – draw a circle and, starting on the outside, make your
way to the middle writing your spelling words repeatedly.
