both funny and heartrending. Neil Simon’s play is filled
with laughter, tears and insight, yet another testament
to his extraordinary talent.

Aladdin and the Pirates
Exit the King

By arrangement with Neil Armfield & Geoffrey Rush & the estate
of Eugene Ionesco, represented by SACD / Société des Auteurs et
Compositeurs Dramatiques
Directed by Peggy Harris
Produced by Janet Hepples
Directed by Wendy Wearne
Produced by Stephanie Symons
Brian Luff’s new version of Aladdin has everything you
would expect from a pantomime. There’s Abanazer as
an evil pirate captain (boooooooo!), a loveable dame,
Widow Twanky (how loveable is she?), a couple of
genies (‘cos two is definitely better than one) and a
penguin of unusual size named Monty. (Well, what
would you call a penguin of unusual size?) Plus lots of
funny gags (oh no, there aren’t) and lots of clever word
plays (oh yes, there are) and pirates, too! Har haarr!
Evenings – 7:30pm • December 17-19 & 26-30, 2016
Matinees – 1:30pm • December 17, 18, 26, 27, 2016
New Year’s Eve – 9:00pm

3 locations in Nanaimo - Rutherford Mall,
100 Wallace St. & #8, 1551 Estevan Rd.
Directed by Robb Mowbray
Produced by Joan Roszmann
Written by Eugene Ionesco in 1962, an absurdist comedy about
the decline and death of King Berenger and the descent of his
court and kingdom, and indeed the world, into chaos. The heaters
aren’t working, the sun won’t rise, the throne room is filthy and
there’s a huge crack opening up in the wall. Queen Marguerite is
preparing for the inevitable but Queen Marie refuses to accept
that the time has come.
Evenings – 8pm • February 22-25, March 1-4, 8-11, 2017

By arrangement with Pam Winter, Gary Goddard Agency
Toronto, Mississippi was written and is set in 1987, and
revolves around Jhanna, a funny, passionate, and often
exasperating 18 year old, who also happens to be mentally
challenged. She lives with her mom, Maddie, and their
boarder, Bill, a poet with a morose sense of humour.
Tensions rise and jealousies flare when Jhanna’s dad, King,
an Elvis impersonator who abandoned the family ten years
earlier, makes an unexpected reappearance. While often
very funny, this is ultimately a deeply moving play about
the power of family and love.
