<PRACTICE NAME> OFFERS REVOLUTIONARY MODALITY FOR RETINAL DISEASE DETECTION
TO PATIENTS IN <INSERT AREA>
optomap® introduces a new standard of care
<INSERT CITY, STATE>, <INSERT DATE> – <INSERT PRACTICE NAME> Now offers patients access
to the optomap as part of a comprehensive eye exam. The optomap is a 200 degree digital image of the
retina. This is much wider than a traditional 45 degree image.
“I am extremely pleased to offer this technology to my patients,” said <INSERT DOCTOR NAME>. “Most
patients feel they should only be examined when they need a change in prescription. In reality, the one of
the most important parts of the examination is determining the health of the retina. The optomap provides
us with a permanent digital image which I can manipulate and magnify to have the most comprehensive
view of the back of the eye in order to better and more effectively discover abnormalities that may be
present.”
The optomap non-invasively captures an instantaneous, ultra-widefield digital image of the retina,
revealing important information for the comprehensive evaluation of systemic and ocular health. The
image, which is captured in a quarter of a second, enhances clinical care, patient satisfaction, and
practice efficiency. It is performed quickly and easily which enables practitioners to spend more time
diagnosing and educating rather than gathering information. An optomap is performed as an initial step in
a comprehensive eye exam. An optomap image provides the practitioner with a tool to help discover
retinal disease, and assist in the diagnosis of eye conditions – and potentially other health conditions –
early. It also enables the practitioner to effectively determine the next course of action.
Early detection of any retinal abnormality may lead to earlier and safer treatments and in many cases
prevent vision loss. An optomap should be performed annually regardless of symptoms, thereby allowing
doctors to observe subtle changes occurring as their patients age.
Since its inception in 1999, millions of optomap images have been conducted worldwide, aiding in the
detection and diagnosis of serious eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments,
macular degeneration, and other pathologies like melanomas.
