What Makes
Communication Effective?
• Message is important.
• Message presents a vision.
• Speaker’s established authority.
• Believe your own message – and act like it
• Get to the point – no rambling.
• Personal skills (eg, volume and tone of
voice, body language, genuine
enthusiasm) are important.

• How often do we think about this with regard
to youth.
• If we do not know what others want/need,
there is little chance that we can
communicate effectively.
