John Laurence Keltner, M.D.
Clinical/Research Interests
Dr. Keltner is the Chair Emeritus for the U C Davis Health System Eye Center. He is an
internationally known neuro-ophthalmologist but is no longer involved in clinical
practice. He is currently Director of Research and Faculty Development.
Dr. Keltner is the Co-Director of the OCT Reading Center with Dr. Jack Werner. They
have been involved in several MS trials using OCT including the Idiopathic Intracranial
Hypertension Trial use of OCT. Dr. Keltner was the Co- Director of the Visual Field
Reading Center for both the Longitudinal Optic Neuritis Study and Ocular Hypertension
Treatment Study. His areas of research interest include effects of cancer on the eye,
autoimmune-related retinopathies, optic neuropathies that affect vision, MS and its affect
on vision, and automated visual field testing.
