Job Purpose:
To carry out high quality research towards the EPSRC funded project on Meaningful Consent. In
particular, the aim is to provide a functional meaningful consent framework that will facilitate
greater understanding of data protection models, enable more effective policy and legislation
that will work with citizen behaviour for meaningful consent. The interdisciplinary scope of the
research in this project will deliver in three key areas for impact in each; policy, technology and
business.
One position will focus on the understanding of consent through experimental design with
human participants, as well as contributing to the wider objectives of the project. The other
position will focus on developing technologies for meaningful consent, such as agent-based
negotiation, as well as contributing to the wider objectives of the project.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points

1. To undertake a range of high quality research activities under supervision
associated with research on the Meaningful Consent programme. This may
include user trials, software development, computer-based data analysis and
evaluation or library research in consultation with the research award holder
or supervisor.

2. Regularly disseminate findings by taking the lead in preparing publication
materials for referred journals, presenting results at conferences, or
exhibiting work at other appropriate events.
3. To attend project meetings and workshops, and assist in setting up
workshops with external participants including industrial partners.

Perform multi-disciplinary collaborative research across social science, management and
electronics and computer science. Interact with the industrial partners of the project.
