The Coffee Enema The very last part of the colon, before reaching the rectum is called the sigmoid colon. By the time stool gets to this part of the colon, most nutrients have been absorbed back into the bloodstream. Because the stool contains products of putrefaction at this point, there exists a special circulatory system of veins between the sigmoid colon and the liver referred to as enterohepatic circulation. Have you ever felt sick just before having a bowel movement, when stool material has just moved into the rectum for elimination? As soon as the material is evacuated, you no longer feel sick. This is due of the toxic quality of the material and the enterohepatic circulation coming into play. Because of this, it is important to evacuate when you have the urge. This circulatory system (enterohepatic) enables toxin to be sent directly to the liver for detoxification, rather than circulating them through the rest of the body and all of its vital organs including the brain. When a coffee enema is used, the caffeine from the coffee is preferentially absorbed into this system and goes directly to the liver where it becomes a very strong detoxicant. It causes the liver to produce more bile (which contains processed toxins) and moves bile out toward the small intestine for elimination. This seems to free up the liver to process more incoming toxic materials that have accumulated in the organs, tissues and bloodstream. The coffee does not go into the systemic circulation, unless the enema procedure is done improperly. The coffee contains some alkaloids that also stimulate the production of glutathione-Stransferase, an enzyme used by the liver to make the detox pathways run. It’s pivotal in the formation of more glutathione, one of the main conjugation chemicals, enabling toxins to be eliminated via bile into the small intestine. So in other words, a coffee enema speeds up the detoxification process and minimizes the backlog of yet to be detoxified substances. Please note: If you are going through chemotherapy start slowly – one every 3rd day and if well tolerated can have one every second day, then once a day. Once well tolerated you can have 2-3 a day to relieve pain and to continue detoxifying. If cramping occurs during the coffee enema, you can start off with a chamomile enema: (4 tbsp. chamomile flowers dried with one quart distilled water) – boil 5 minutes and strain. Use when cooled to body temperature and retain the tea for about 5 minutes. After releasing immediately start the coffee enema. Preparing the Coffee Enema What you will need: 3 tablespoons of coffee. The coffee needs to be of the organic variety and should not be decaf see www.S.A.Wilsons.com 24 -32 ounces of distilled water 1 strainer 1 stainless steel pot or glass pot Enema bucket and tubing Lubricant (coconut oil,) 1. Add the water and coffee to a glass or stainless steel cooking pot and let it boil 2-3 minutes, and then simmer for 12-15 minutes. Do not use iron or aluminium pots. 2. Strain the coffee through a coffee filter (chloride free) or cheese cloth to remove the coffee grounds and let the liquid cool to body temperature. This liquid is now ready to be used. Coffee Enema Procedure If considerable time has elapsed since your last meal, juice or snack, a small piece of fruit should be eaten to activate the upper digestive tract. • Fill an enema bag (or bucket) or hot water bottle with the prepared liquid. Let the air inside the bag escape and then clamp the bag shut • Look for a suitable location to hang the enema bag so that it is above you when lying down about 18-24” Suggestion: Shower rod or towel holder • Place a towel or exercise mat on the floor or in the bathtub and lie on your right side. • Relax your body and after lubricating the nozzle with coconut oil or another safe lubricant, gently put the nozzle of the enema bag into your anus (5”-8”) • Once the nozzle is in, open the clamp on the enema bag and let the coffee liquid go in slowly. • Close and release the clamp every few seconds until you are comfortable with the rate of coffee release into the colon. Continue to do this until the colon pressure is sufficient. You do not want to fill your colon so much that you cannot hold it in. • Lie still and meditate or listen to relaxing music. When you begin to feel the urge to go to the bathroom (between 12 – 15 minutes or less) get up slowly and go to the toilet. • Release your bowels. • Wash the enema bag thoroughly with hot water. Wash your enema tubing with water and soap. Let boiling water run through the tubing to sterilize it. You can also run hydrogen peroxide through the tubing as well.
