2016 Safety Goals/Focus
 SOG/SOP –Joey completed fire panel documentation including laymen instructions on
dealing with the alarms.
 Boater Safety Card Update: Alex taking lead in Maintenance to identify who has a card
and who needs a card. US Power Squadron good source for training.
 HAZWOPER – Class rescheduled to 4/20 and will be videotaped. Adam is looking into a
contractor to conduct the 24 hour certification class and anticipates 7 maintenance
employees including Alex and Carol will be trained. Neil and Alice are continuing to
work on the Awareness level training.
Wellness Update
April promotion – Financial Wellness. Earn tickets by: attending ICMA one-on-one meeting
with ICMA rep; enrolling in ICMA; increasing participation in ICMA; attending retirement
planning seminar. May promotion – preventive health screening will earn 5 tickets!
New Business
Erich – seems like Meetings and Events should participate in Safety Committee since they deal
with unusual issues. Elizabeth will follow-up with Tiffany.
Elizabeth discussed the outcome of the BCT ramp litigation.
Adam shared that the Waterfront security profile will be changing with the activity going on.
There will be a committee to evaluate fencing/security needs. Should there be Safety Committee
representation? Neil will likely be involved.
Fire Alarm and accessibility issue came up. Question-does the elevator automatically to the
ground floor when the alarm is activated? Alex will find out the answer.
Kyle - Squalicum is reporting a lot of needles, both used and un-used are being found in the
toilet seat cover containers. Safety Committee recommends wall mounted sharps containers be
installed in all public restrooms.
Homelessness continues to be a major issue and doesn’t seem to be improving.
