The chart is based on a student’s Grade Equivalent Score from the STAR Reading
standardized Assessment. The Suggested ZPD is a recommended book-level range
for the student. If books in that range seem too hard or easy for the student, please
contact me so that we can discuss a wider range that better matches your child’s
abilities.
Average percent correct – One of the most important goals for all students is to
average 85% or higher on Reading Practice Quizzes. Meeting this goal has
significant impact on student’s reading growth. If a student struggles to maintain
the minimum average, we will need to talk to him/her to identify causes for the
problem. Then we will decide on appropriate strategies to help him/her succeed.
*Students reading below grade level need at least 60 minutes of daily reading
practice.
Point Goals – The chart shows the number of points students are expected to earn
if they are reading independently on their level for 30 minutes a day for 12 weeks.
