Cycles is a monthly publication of The School of Ageless Wisdom. The members of the School are experimenting with rejoining
astrology and astronomy. The experiment is called Astrochemistry
and involves astronomical calculation to determine cyclic energy
patterns and the works of the Masters D.K., M., and R. as aids in
determining the meaning and significance of these cycles. This
information is intended to be useful in daily life.
Disciple/Initiate: Libra – Balance attained. Divine love. Understanding.
Libra, as you know, governs the legal
profession and holds the balances
between so-called right and wrong,
between negative and positive and also
between East and West. This last point
of adjustment may seem to you to be a
meaningless phrase, but when the true
and right relationship is established
between the orient and the occident
(which is not yet the case) it will come
about through the activity of Libra and
the work of the legal profession.
Libra has been the “sponsor of the law.”
Legislation has hitherto been engrossed
with the enforcing of those negations
and those attitudes of fear which have
been preserved for us in the Mosaic
code and imposed through the medium
of punishment for infringement. This
has been a probably necessary stage for
child races and for the preservation of a
Festival in
Libra

“nursery regime” for men. But mankind
is reaching maturity and a different interpretation of the purposes and intents
of Libra through the medium of law is
now required. The law must become
the custodian of a positive righteousness and not simply the instrument of
enforcement. Just as we are attempting
to eliminate force out of our national relationships, and just as it is obvious today
that the process of drastic penalties has
not succeeded in preventing crime or in
deterring people from violent selfishness
(for that is what all crime is), and just as
the social attitude (in contradistinction to
the anti-social position of all law-breakers) is being regarded as desirable and
taught in our schools, so it is beginning
to dawn upon the public consciousness
that the inculcation of right relations and
the spread of self-control and the growth
of unselfishness (and these surely are

Soul-Light of Libra :
The Light that moves to rest.
This is the light that oscillates until a point of balance is achieved. It
is the light which is distinguished by a moving up and down.

of all legal procedure) are the needed
approach to the young.
The influence of Libra should be imposed in childhood along spiritual lines.
Crime will be stamped out when the
environing conditions in which children
live are bettered, when physical attention is given in the early formative years
to glandular balance as well as to teeth
and eyes and ears, to right posture and
correct feeding, and when there is also
a more proper apportionment of time;
when esoteric psychology and esoteric astrology give their contribution of
knowledge to the bringing up of young
people. The old methods must give
way to the new and the conservative
attitude must be dropped in favour of
religious, psychic and physical training
and experiment, scientifically applied
and mystically motivated. When I say
religious, I do not refer to doctrinal or
theological teaching. I mean the cultivation of those attitudes and conditions
which will evoke reality in man, bring the
inner spiritual man to the foreground of
consciousness and thus produce the
recognition of God Immanent.
A certain relationship or configuration
of stars—of which one is the star Regulus, in Leo—will bring about a situation
wherein the re-orientation of the attitude
of the legal profession will take place; its
functions and duties will be centralised
for the purpose of world usefulness, and
in this process legislation for children
will assume great importance and be
the motivating power. This legal step
will be primarily advocated by Russia
and endorsed by the United States of
America. Before 2035 A.D. such legislation will be universal in its sphere of
influence and control.
The great battle which is related in The
Bhagavad Gita really took place in the
first instance in mid-Atlantean days and
in the sign Libra. The major conflict
of this present, Aryan period is being
waged upon a higher turn of the spiral
and is under the influence of Scorpio.
That in the past prepared the world
probationary disciple, humanity, for the
path of true discipleship. That in the
present is preparing the world disciple
to take initiation. During the vast interim
between the Atlantean decisive happening and the present time, a great
re-orientation upon the wheel of life has
taken place; since then, several million
men have passed from Scorpio into
Libra (symbolically speaking) and there
have been “weighed in the balances”
and have afterwards refocussed their
desire life towards spiritual aspiration

and reinforced their determination to
move forward and thus have returned
into Scorpio upon the reversing wheel.
Ponder upon this thought, for this constitutes the real problem for the masses
of intelligent men at this time.
As you already know, Libra is one of the
four arms of the Cardinal Cross. This
accounts for our difficulty in understanding the real nature of its influence. The
significance of the energies working
out into our solar system through the
medium of the four arms of this Cross,
or from the four constellations, Aries,
Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, can be
summed up in the four words: Creation,
Manifestation, Legislation and Initiation.
Having given you these words, their very
scope and meaning make it hard for you
to understand.
Cosmically, they mean the activity of
Deity when spirit and matter are brought
into a definite relationship and, under
divine purpose, produce that fusion of
living energies which will be adequately
potent in time and space to bring that
purpose to its desired consummation.
This is Creation, or Aries in activity.
They mean also the objective appearing of the thoughtform which God has
thus created and in which is embodied
His desire, His will, His purpose and His
plan. This is Manifestation, or Cancer in
activity. They mean again the working
out of the plan under spiritual and natural
law which is evolutionary in expression; this is the goal of evolution and
its expression and is steadily revealing
the nature of God, for the laws under
which this solar system of ours is governed are expressions of God’s quality
and character. This is Legislation, or
Libra in activity. They mean, finally, the
processes of initiation wherein, step by
step and stage by stage, under law and
through the method of gained experience whilst in manifestation, the creative
plan is realised in consciousness. The
unfoldment of the plan is thus carried
forward through a progressed series of
beginnings, of manifestations, and of
consummations—all relative in nature
but leading to an absolute consummation. This is Initiation, or activity in
Capricorn. All this is on a somewhat vast
and incomprehensible scale as far as
the human understanding is concerned.

of Aquarius, and you have four energies
which are playing upon the vehicles of
men and producing peculiar effects both destructive and constructive.

22, then in Scopio until November 29.
(Ophiuchus will make impact until December 17 when we will be back into
Sagittarius again.)
LIBRA KEYNOTE: “I CHOOSE THE
WAY THAT LEADS BETWEEN THE
TWO GREAT LINES OF FORCE.”
There exists at this time an interrelation
between three of the constellations upon
which I would like somewhat to enlarge,
because their potency and the climax
of their interrelation is being reached at
this time. From 1975 on, that potency
will greatly lessen until it fades out. The
period of this interplay of three major
energies and their focused potent effect
upon our planet began in 1875, achieved
momentum in 1925, will reach its highest
expression (for good or evil) in 1945 and
will then decline slowly until 1975. These
three constellations are: Leo, Capricorn
and Pisces. These are curiously and
most mysteriously related to the fourth
kingdom in nature and therefore to the
evolution and the destiny of the human
Within the solar system itself, three of
the sacred planets are peculiarly active.
They are:
1. Uranus. This planet is the exoteric
ruler of Aquarius; it is also the esoteric
ruler of Libra and the hierarchical ruler
of Aries. It is peculiarly active at this time
and brings in the energy of the seventh
ray. The circulating of its energies can
be portrayed by the following symbol or
diagram:

The entire nebula is 110 light-years across, covering six full moons on the sky as seen from Earth, and resides about
2,100 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan.

constellations, is potent to effect major
changes in our little planet. It is interesting to realize that Aries, the Inaugurator, is rendered effective on the Earth
through the organizing potency of Uranus. Aries is the source, the beginning
and the initiator of the New Age and its
coming civilizations, of the appearance
of the kingdom of God on earth and
also of the individual initiate into the
Mysteries. Aquarius is the present Determiner of the future. That which is now
initiated in Aries will become manifested
in Aquarius, and Libra will enforce the
achievement of a point of balance or
(esoterically speaking) of the “escape
from opposing forces at the midway
point between the source and the goal.”
2. Mercury is the expression of fourth
ray energy and this is, as you know,
peculiarly related to the fourth kingdom
in nature, the human kingdom. It is the
esoteric ruler of Aries (hence it “leads
into the mysteries”) and is also the exoteric ruler of Gemini, which is the sign of
the major opposites as far as humanity is
concerned, because it signifies soul and
personality, consciousness and form; it
is also the exoteric ruler of Virgo, the
Mother of the Christ-Child, or the form
and that which indwells the form. It is,
finally, the hierarchical ruler of Scorpio,
which is the sign of discipleship.
This, therefore, brings into a close relation four great constellations, each of
which has a peculiar relation to the dualities with which man has a definite evolutionary concern. These are expressed in
a unique manner for humanity through
Aries, Gemini, Virgo, and Scorpio. Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods, carries
to humanity a certain type of force and
this precipitates a point of crisis; it brings
about the next great revolution which will
lead mankind on to new experience, and
to the revelation of the divinity which it
is the destiny of man to reveal.
3. Saturn. This planet applies the tests
and is so chosen or invoked because the
third ray is not only its particular ray but
is also the ray of our planet, the Earth.
The two notes synchronize. Saturn is
also the hierarchical ruler of Libra and,
therefore, it brings to the manifestation
of mankind and to the various hierarchies involved, a point of crisis to which
the due and the outcome lies in the
recognition of balance. As Saturn also
controls Capricorn in two of its three
expressions or fields of influence, it is
powerful in the three fields - exoteric,
esoteric and hierarchical - and if you
will relate what I here say to what I have
said in an earlier part of this treatise re
Capricorn, you will see how the sign of
initiation hovers over our planet as well

This galaxy, at a distance of some 700 million light years, contains a giant bubble
filled with hot, X-ray emitting gas detected by Chandra (blue). Radio data from the

as over the destiny of the individual disciple. You have therefore an expression
of the third ray force.
This makes factual and clear that at this
time, the signs of balance and of initiation can be intelligently used to produce
effects on our Earth and this they will
immutably do.
These statements conclude what I feel
it necessary to say at this time. Initiation
– characterized by self-initiation – is the
demand of man today. The stars declare
it and decree it. The Hierarchy therefore
intentionally collaborates. The crying
demand and aspirations of man indicate appreciation of the opportunity and
recognized understanding of the proved
necessity. The Spirit of Life enforces this.

Below it is a map of the zodiacal constellations
as they appear in the sky. The straight line through
them represents the ecliptic, the apparent path
of the sun through the sky. Note that the signs
and the constellations do not match in time any
longer, the Sun appears to be in some constellations longer than others (44 days for Virgo and
only 8 days for Scorpio), and that the ecliptic
passes through a 13th constellation, Ophiuchus.
FIERY WORLD II
1. Now let us approach still
closer to the study of the conditions of the Fiery World. The
divisibility of the spirit may call
forth many questions. One may
certainly ponder to what an extent the chemism of the Luminaries influences the separated
portions of the spirit. During long
distance flights parts of the spirit
may be exposed to the most varied influences. Indeed, even the
fiery bodies cannot avoid various influences, but an open consciousness will always help to
find the better vibrations. Such
a condition is created not by the
spirit of the sender and not even
by the one who receives, but
by the chemism of the currents.
Even the most Fiery Beings are
subject to cosmic currents. This
by no means diminishes their
lofty nature, but only confirms
the immutable laws. One must
be imbued with the majesty of
the Universe to such an extent
that one accepts the laws of the
Great Luminaries.

THE MAJESTY OF THE UNIVERSE

As years unfold in life, the one wordless impression that occupies the mind
and heart and won’t let go is how the
Universe has been gradually presented; and the awesome Majesty in which
one has become conscious to partake
with all other beings.
For many, starting in early childhood,
with the normal questions of, “Why am
I here?” and “What is this all about?”—
those questions never left the silent
background of all outer experience.
Still, the outer experience was quite
rampant in its overpowering demand
for attention to simply functioning here,
and doing what was going on within a
material world. Growing, sharing human life with others who seemed to
be totally uninterested in the instance
of existence, actually unhinged one’s
“fitting in” in many ways. Such, are the
recapitulating Disciples.
Venturing to question someone about
life, the Holy Bible was referred for all
answers, suggesting to begin with the
New Testament. One read it through,
and questions led to reading the Old
Testament which together, taken literally, left one with an attitude of, “This cannot be all there is to it! It doesn’t make
sense for a God Who is LOVE to create humans; choosing to torture them
forever if they do not believe in specific
ways!” One discovered later, in heart-
felt gratitude, that there are numerous
lucid presentations of why humans exist antedating the Bible,—to answer all
of one’s questions clearly.
Most people within Western culture accepted that Jesus of Nazareth was the
“Son of God” and was crucified to atone
for the “sins” of all humans whom God
had created. When humans believe in
the Biblical “Son of God,” the atonement excuses them of all “sin.” If one
does NOT believe, one will die and be
tortured forever! If one found this to be
incredulous, It was thought there must
be some other explanation that would
answer the problems of existence.
That “thought” became a magnet!
Then, information came to one inexplicably, while NOT to others in one’s immediate environment. One concluded
that behind the scenes, there was an
“Overseeing Entity,” (later called the
“Solar Angel”) that pulled the hopedfor knowledge into one’s hands. The
term, “LORD” was used for that Entity
because one was intuitively aware of
the Truth of it. The “Love” of the “Lord”
became Interminable.
One was introduced to the world of Occult Wisdom in the “Secret Doctrine.”
Since then, consciousness of Laws of
Existence pertaining to all of the past,
were clear—regarding radiant and
magnetic currents of various vibrations

of electrical energy that are everywhere
present! These have been a basis for
an evolutionary process underway on
the planet Earth, in the Solar System,
which is a part of a Galaxy that is but
infinitesimal among billions of galaxies.
One also learned of the Seven Physical
Planes of our Solar System, among the
Cosmic Planes, and the Seven Rays
with Their differentiations. Humans are
able to place themselves in a relation to
the sun Sirius, to the Stars of the Great
Bear, and the Pleiades—also with the
other planets in the Solar System. One
wonders how a human being with a
sense of reason can possibly be fulfilled in life, lacking this consciousness
of context. It proves itself through one’s
experience, beyond any doubt whatsoever. Humans have many unawakened
faculties that the Wisdom Teachings,
Meditation and Application Reveal.
This has become the unshakeable
Context for one’s conscious existence,
even though moving through normal
human conditions — schooling, livelihood, marriage, parenthood and creativity on a material roller-coaster of
magnetic currents of life. While this
was going on with some, many others,
worldwide, had recognized the same
Spiritual Energies. A natural Hierarchical structure exists depending upon
the experience of each Entity involved.
This Group of Beings, in all its levels
and functions, are close Brothers on
the Path of Life. ALL are imbued with
the constant effort to serve others, and
are exemplary to Inspire spiritual Purpose. Those Great Ones Who have become Masters of Wisdom or Lords of
Compassion have moved beyond the
lower planes and completely Identified
with Spiritual Being. The entire process
is evolutionary, having endured since
the beginning of humankind. For Planet
Earth, there is the Synthesizing Guidance of the Ancient of Days, the Planetary Logos, the ONE LIFE.
In human history, the Wisdom is ancient and has always been available to
those who would attract it. The majority
of human beings are still caught-up in
the vistas of material life that are part
of the evolutionary process which everyone experiences within the three
worlds of material substance (physical/
etheric, astral and lower mental). It is
Divine Procedure for human beings
to “inhabit” the pre-existing elemental
substance, and to transmute, transform
and transfigure it as part of planetary
evolution! During the “inhabitance,” of
the form, a “glamorous” and “illusory”
identification is natural, but must be
recognized and repulsed by the true
and eternal Spiritual Identity who has
voluntarily taken the human form (analogous to putting on clothing). One must
experiment, experience and develop
spiritual sensitivity to achieve freedom
from the mistaken identity with lower
matter as a conscious Disciple on the
Path.
On the Earth, there is a process set
up for each of the Kingdoms in nature
(mineral, plant, and animal) to be assisted by the Human Kingdom, which
is Itself moving gradually into a Fifth,
Spiritual Kingdom, called the “Kingdom
of God.” Upon its ultimate completion,
Humanity will have transmuted the
Planet Earth into a Holy Planet. Everyone needs to know this, and play their
part beyond the early identity with the
elementary form—to Identify with the
Spirit Reality, instead.
The amazing fact that all of evolution
always has been put before humans to
discover, is useful to know. A process
of reincarnation exists so that one will
proceed in learning from where one
left off in the past, explaining the differences of race, gender, locality, abilities,
and possibilities of one from another
among humans. The most mature
MUST assist the less mature as each
has been assisted. Our Planetary Logos has chosen the way of pain, suffering and sacrifice in order to achieve the
Spiritual Goal.
“There is the rub” for those enthralled
with material identity. Painful lessons
will eventually bring disenchantment.
Our planet is an immature one, when
it comes to evolution. Humanity is far
behind where it could be if it were realized, en mass, that evolutionary
processes do NOT have a GOAL of
material accretion. A Spiritual Transmutation, Transformation and Transfiguration lies in the material future. During the Aquarian Age upon us, and with
the uses of the 7th Ray of Ceremonial
Magic and order, tremendous progress
might be achieved.
Humanity will learn, as it goes through
the cause-and-effect processes that
are foundational to the grasp of existential Truths. The identity with the lower forms has kept those “prisoner” in
form who have not yet “seen through”
the glamors and illusion of the material world. Intricate and lucid details are
available in the Wisdom Teachings to
put into practice. There is much work to
do as the Spiritual Soul, transforming
matter, but the Way has been traversed
by so many that the Path is clear, however difficult it might be to reject and
“escape” the familiar illusion. For aeons, humans have lived in it, creating
ephemeral pleasures and comforts,
only to have them result in fleeting
satisfaction. Eventually, pain brings to
Light the Spiritual Way; the Fifth Kingdom becomes the irresistible goal and
Joyous future.
The nature of the human being identified with form is automatically selfcentered from birth. A Disciple, recapitulating, finds gradual understanding
takes place, that all humans have ONE
Soul and an evolutionary Purpose to
repulse the identity with Matter, while
transforming it to subtle substance as
a constant Service to the evolutionary
Plan. This has required time, (centuries
for some), and recognizing the laws of
cause and effect in their incalculable
manifestations. As satiation with material identity occurs, Illumined Manas
(Higher Mind) exposes the glamors to
be dissipated; the illusion of form identity is dispelled, and substance of the
three lower worlds (physical, astral and
lower mental) is transformed to Light.
Those Great Beings, Who have gone
before, including the Buddha and the
Christ (who sacrificed for mankind by
His LIVING Example,—NOT by His dying)—Such Beings Will always LIGHT
the Way on Earth for those who are
ready. Being “ready” is being magnetic
to Impression for unlimited Service,
and to transfer the mistaken material
fascination—to the Immutable Joy of
Spirit!
