Bacterial Vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is when a women’s vagina has an overload of bacteria and it gets unbalanced. It
causes the vagina to go blue or get discolored. Some other symptoms include odor, pain, itching,
discharge and burning. It is one of the most common infection in women. This can start at a
“childbearing” age. Bacterial vaginosis is a STD.
Patch
• This type of birth control stops pregnancy by
releasing hormones into the body called
estrogen and progestin.
• These hormones stop pregnancy by keeping
eggs from leaving the ovaries and making
cervical mucus thicker.
• This does not protect against STD’s.
The Pill
• The pill is a type of birth control that contains
hormones that are released into the body
when the pill is digested. These pills are
ingested daily and usually come in a 21 or 28
day pack.
• The hormones these pills release make it so
that eggs can not release.
• This does not protect against STD’s
