To obtain a better therapeutic response, patients should understand their medication and cooperate with the treatment. Brand name:STREPTOMYCIN SULFATE 1g "MEIJI" FOR INJECTION Active ingredient:Streptomycin sulfate Dosage form:injection Print on wrapping: Effects of this medicine This medicine is an aminoglycoside antibiotic which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis to exert an antibacterial effect. It is usually used to treat infectious endocarditis (applicable only when this medicine is given with benzylpenicillin or ampicillin), plague, tularemia, pulmonary tuberculosis and other tuberculous diseases, non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis including Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection and Weil's disease. Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist ・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines. If you or your family members have deafness due to aminoglycoside antibiotic or deafness due to other causes. If you have renal disorder or liver disorder. If you have myasthenia gravis. If you have poor oral intake or are receiving parenteral nutrition. If you are in a poor general condition. ・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding. ・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.) Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine) ・Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is<< to be written by a healthcare professional>> ・Pulmonary tuberculosis and other tuberculous diseases: In general, this medicine is injected intramuscularly 2 to 3 days a week or daily during the first 1 to 3 months, and 2 days a week thereafter. This medicine is also injected locally as necessary. This medicine, in principle, is used in combination with other antituberculous drugs. Non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis including Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection: In general, this medicine is injected intramuscularly 2 to 3 times a week. Other indications: In general, this medicine is injected intramuscularly in 1 to 2 divided doses a day. ・The treatment period with this medicine is determined based on your symptoms. ・Relax and stay still while receiving drip infusion. Precautions while taking this medicine Possible adverse reactions to this medicine The most commonly reported adverse reactions include renal dysfunction, fever, rash and eruption. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist. The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately. ・deafness, tinnitus, dizziness [VIIIth cranial nerve disorder] ・decreased urine output, edema, headache [serious renal disorder such as acute renal failure] ・hives, palpitation, sweating [shock, anaphylaxis] ・fever, redness/swelling of skin and mucosa with rash and blister, hyperemia of the bulbar conjunctiva [toxic epidermal necrolysis, muco-cutaneo-ocular syndrome] ・fever, dry cough, respiratory distress [interstitial pneumonia] The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine.
