Effects of this medicine
This medicine suppresses the growth of breast cancer cells with high expression (overexpression) of HER2 (human
epidermal growth factor receptor 2) by selectively suppressing the function of a protein related to cancer cell growth
called HER2 .
It is usually used to treat inoperable or recurrent breast cancer in which HER2 overexpression is confirmed.
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist
・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have : hepatic dysfunction, interstitial lung disease (including radiation pneumonitis) or its history, heart
failure or its history, decreased pumping ability of the heart (left ventricular ejection fraction), ventricular
extrasystole (arrhythmia) or heart valve disease.
・If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal
effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is<<

・In combination with capecitabine : In general, for adults, take 5 tablets (1,250 mg of lapatinib) at a time, once a day
(at least one hour before, or at least one hour after meal).
In combination with an aromatase inhibitor (letrozole, anastrozole or exemestane) : In general, for adults, take 6
tablets (1,500 mg of lapatinib) at a time, once a day (at least one hour before, or at least one hour after meal). In any
case, the dosage may be decreased according to the patient's condition, and strictly follow the instructions.
・Avoid taking the medicine within one hour before and after meal, since taking after meal may increase the amount of
this medicine in your body and intensify its adverse reactions.
・Do not take one dose in two or more divided doses.
・If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose on that day and continue your regular dosing schedule from the following
day. You should never take two doses at one time.
・If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
・Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
Precautions while taking this medicine
・While you are on this medicine, avoid taking grapefruit, grapefruit juice or any food and supplement containing Saint
John's Wort since they may affect the effect of this medicine.
Possible adverse reactions to this medicine
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include diarrhea, palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia (redness,
swelling, cracking, pain, etc. of the hands and feet), nausea, stomatitis and rash . If any of these symptoms occur,
consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated
in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor
immediately.
・general fatigue, nausea, yellow discoloration of the skin/white of the eyes [hepatic dysfunction]
・shortness of breath, breathing difficulty, cough, fever [interstitial lung disease]
・palpitation, shortness of breath, edema [cardiac disorder (decreased left ventricular ejection fraction, heart failure)]
・muddy or watery stool, dehydration symptoms (hyperpnea, tremor of finger) [diarrhea]
・chest pain, palpitation, chest discomfort [QT interval prolongation]
・red rash, fever, bloodshot eyes [serious skin disorder (toxic epidermal necrolysis, oculomucocutaneous syndrome,
erythema multiforme, etc.)]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your
doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
Storage conditions and other information
