Activities for Words of the Week
 Rainbow Words- have your child write the words with a crayon,
colored pencil, pen or marker then pick a different color and trace the
word again. Trace each word three times to make a rainbow word.
 Magnetic letters- use magnetic letters to make the words on the
refridgerator or on a cookie sheet.
 Sand letters- make the letters in a small amount of sand, salt, sugar or
even jello on a plate or a cookie sheet.
 Spelling test- have your child take a spelling test of the words and
have them practice writing the words that they missed.
 Flash Cards- make flash cards of the words and practice. Remember
to practice words they know too so that they do not forget.
 Crossword/Word Search – make a crossword puzzle or word search
with the words. www.puzzlemaker.com is a website to help you
 Playdough Words- use playdough to make the words.
 Word Dictionary- write the word and draw a picture to go with each
word to make a dictionary.
